    Hi,

Thats what I am asking if anyone knows what kind of external plug in card will work with this laptop. I can't seem to find anything on the net. It has a funy looking card slot inside. It isn't like a full card the insert has adifferent shape than usual.

The sound cards in the laptops usually they are built in on the motherboard and can not be replaced. If you want to add better sound to your notebook you can connect an external device like Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA Sound Card to get better sound performance to your laptop.

PS: Your laptop must have an PCMCIA slot available

Eight beeps means a display failure.
Since the external monitor works, you know it's not a fault with the video card.
With the notebook off, hold down the "D" key and power the notebook on. If you get solid colors on the screen, then you know the LCD is good. I would look for a problem with the video cable.

My laptop (Inspirion B13) speakers work sporatically (sound is scratchy as it seems to be skiping) when I play DVSs. How do I fix this so I can have clear sound?

Hopefully it's a software problem and not hardware. I'd start by downloading and installing the latest drivers from Dell. Here's a link to the support site:

http://supportapj.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=in&l=en&s=gen

If that doesn't work then it's probably a hardware problem. Let me know if the first suggestion works, otherwise I'll post other tips.

Joey, Be sure to use the Dell website to search for your problem. "B130 no audio device found?" or whatever the message is. Had exactly the same problem and it was do to a switch turned off, I think in the Computer Administration folder. I cannot rember what itwas, but I believe you can find the answer. There are 266 Search Results for B130 no sound device search on the Dell community site.
