Question about Lexmark X85 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Lexmark x85 I have two white gear wheels that have come off my printer. I was having the carriage stall error and when I looked inside - I found the 2 half moon shaped gears. I have the printer mostly taken apart, but cannot find a location for these gears. Do you have a schematic repair sheet you can share? Thanks! Donna

Lexmark X85 won't feed paper. When trying to

There could be something in the paper feeder that's blocking the paper path. Please follow steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside for any debris.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris that could cause this error or problem.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet to reset it.

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again.

Lexmark X85 printer will not scan copy. All three led lights stay on. What is the problems? Open catridge door and the catridge carriage does not move.

This may sound silly, but did you try turning the printer off (and unplugging) for a while (several minutes or more) to see if it can re-set itself?

Carrier stall

The most common causes for this problem are:1. The carrage has come unhooked from the guide belt. 2. The guide belt has gotton dirty. On the back side of the carrage is a clear plastic strip with hard to see lines on it. If this has gotten dirty, it can be cleaned with q-tips and isopropyle alcohol. If it has come unhooked, just move it up and down a little in the back of the carriage, it will usually slip back into place.

You didn't specify which operating system you have.

If you have Vista, people have reported success using the Windows 2000 driver.

Drivers can be downloaded from here:

System error 000 carrier stall Presss power Key

Does carriage bash against side when power up? if so encoder strip is dirty or incorrectly seated... plastic strip inside printer lines on it 1cm wide, must sit vertical in slot on carriage

Might be somethin stopping print head from moving along rail, check ink carts are installed correctly and fully, check for paper squashed up left and right inside ends of printer. make sure carriage moves left and right

Try power up without cartridges and just black and just colour cart to eleminate cart faults does error change?
