Excuse me if i am wrong, but is that your CD drive? If so its not going to show any free space unless the cd has had data written to it. If you insert a blank cd its going to show full, because it hasent been formatted and data burned to it.

How do I free up space on my computer's D drive

Luis Balaguet,
You will need to delete some programs to free up some space. If you have room on your C drive you could move some files to it in order to free up space on your D drive.
Thank You,

Tip

Freeing up extra hard drive space

Are you out of hard drive space but can't find anything you'd like to remove from your computer?

Maybe you should try doing a Disk Cleanup.
Disk Cleanup will remove unnecessary files from your hard drive and if it hasn't been done on your system previously, free up a lot of space in the process.

To do a Disk Cleanup:

1) Go to My Computer.
2) Right click on your C drive.
3) Click Properties.
4) Click the "Disk Cleanup" button next to the visual representation of your hard drive space.
Disk Cleanup will calculate how much space you can free up and
what should be removed.
5) Under "Files to delete" select any files you don't want or need.
Generally all of the tabs can be selected and none of the files are
needed by your system. Below on "Description" you can view what
the files listed under each tab are for.
6) Once you have selected all of the files you want to remove click OK.
7) Disk Cleanup will remove the files from your system.
Disk Cleanup is complete.

Pop up box says no available space o GB?

Click Start, then Computer. If it shows no (or very little) free space on C:, you are truly out of room and need to delete or move some files to another hard drive (external hard drives are good for this). To operate efficiently, a good rule of thumb is to have at least 20% of your hard drive free.

Hello I have an ascer aspire ast 180 ea381b with 160 gb of memory and it is always telling me that I am low on disk space. the C drive has 71.9 GB but only 4.3 M free. The D driver has 71.6 GB and 68.4...

4.3 GB is very less for current day windows versions (you have not specified what version of windows is installed in your computer). Please move some of your files like music, movies, photographs and documents to the D drive and free up the C drive. Ensure you free up atleast 15 GB in your C drive. Also try removing / uninstalling unwanted programs installed in your computer.

There's a free program that works great for partitioning hard drives and restoring boot logs. It's called GParted and can be downloaded at the link below. You can choose from there if you want the Live CD or to run it within your operating system.

Local Disk C running out of space but the D drive has plenty of space. How to make the D drive the primary partition? Os in on C drive windows Vista.

Do you run Disk Cleanup regularly (once a month)? This will free up disk space on the C drive, it remover old temporary files and compressed files as well as other files.
You can also move and save your data files to the D drive, so the C drive has only the operating system files and program files.

1. right click on C: Local Disk ( your C drive )

2. click properties

3. look at the amount of used space in blue , and free space you have in pink

to free up more hard drive space

Go to the add/remove programs in control panel

Look for programs that you don't need and uninstall them.
