Response to constant beeping on the dell 1600sc server

I saw your response regarding the constant beeping when you startup the server. I am experiencing this. We have a small business and our tech guy left, so here I am trying to figure this out...and I am not very technical. I didn't understand your response about utilizing registered vs unregistered memory. When I look at the front of the server (cover off) and see the 6 drivers, all drives except for 2 and 3 have green lights. drives 2 and 3 are yellow. The bios run on the monitor and then it tells me that no boot device is available....HELP please.

I guess you can't go into start button. /anyway how did you know if computing is powered? On your keyboard top line keys have screen control keys for brightness etc.eg f4. try.

A power outage cause dell server 1600sc to shut down & no display on the monitor

Hello here is the homepage.

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/ussoho1/Product/poweredge-1600sc

There should at least be a message on the monitor indicating there is no signal coming to the monitor. The first thought that comes to mind if all is connected would be that the power supply has failed.
And maybe the graphic card.

Call also the DELL support in your country they will be glad to help
and they probably know the fault.

Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Server occasionally beeps when running

Check out this site:

http://bioscentral.com/postcodes/dellbios.htm

Write down the exact number of beeps and how long they last to find what the error means. The are call BIOS post codes and they resemble Morse Code. (ie. one long, 3 short, 2 long = RAM issue) Good luck!!

No Video Signal on 1600sc

Disconnect from the network and all other accessories, and power up the system, this might be due to a faulty device attached to the system, eg: when you connect a usb faulty device the boot takes very long time, sometime it does not boot up.

Beep sound

This problem is due to the mix of registered and unregistered DIMMs. 64Mb and 128 Mb DIMM's are unregistered memory technology 256MB is registered memory technology.
A mix of registered and unregistered memory prevents the server from completing startup, and results in an error beep sequence and a blank screen..Use registered memory and it will be fine..
