  • hot onkyo Oct 06, 2008

    Thank you,

Can you explain what you refere to as a new screen, Thx D.

  • hot onkyo Oct 06, 2008

    Sorry Nick,

The LCD screen works just fine. The setup menu does not appear on the plasma screen. It was there, then it disapeared. I somehow got it back. Pushed the wrong button or whatever and it was gone again, hasn't found it's way back yet. It shouldn't be that difficult. Having owned Onkyo for years with no setup screen problems, then buy a new 806, and wham, problems.

    D.

cables are s video and DVI, still looking for a HDMI board. D.

  • hot onkyo Oct 06, 2008

Will try doing that tonight after work,

    Thx, D.

  • hot onkyo Oct 07, 2008

Well, I have tried you sugestion, I even read the manual, no on screen menu. I am ready to give up and send this thing back to Onkyo. It simply can't, or shouldn't be this difficult.

I thank you for your time, D.

  • hot onkyo Oct 07, 2008

The problem has been solved. The manual says to set the switch on the front panel of the reciever from HDMI to Analog. We did and it didn't work. In the set up screen there is a misc. folder. In that folder there is an HDMI setting. Changed that setting to Analog and the on screen came back. The idiots at Onkyo saw fit to cause us so much grief by making the on screen setup so difficult. If I owned Onkyo, I would beat that engineer with an ugly stick, then fire him, her, or whatever.

Thank you for you help, D.

Is OSD set to ON? See below

Set the OSD (onscreen display) mode before you start using the RI Dock. 1. Plug in the AC adapter. 2. Turn on your TV and amp, and select the appropriate inputs on your TV and amp. 3. Insert your iPod into the RI Dock. 4. Select the video output mode depending on the video connection. While pressing the remote controller's [SETUP] button, press the Up [ ] button for the component video connection, press the [ ] button for the composite (default) connection. 5. Use the remote controller's [MODE] button to set the OSD mode. On: Playlists (artists, albums, songs, and so on) are displayed on your TV, and you can navigate and select your music or video while looking at your TV. While this mode is selected, your iPod displays the Onkyo logo. Off: Nothing is displayed on your TV and you navigate and select your contents by using your iPod's display.

I think this one is for the Onkyo wizards:

I would write them via email here:

http://www.onkyousa.com/feedback_form.cfm

1-800-229-1687
However I did find this 2 page hookup manual with nice notes at link listed below that may help you solve the mystery:

(seems you may have to assign the digital input)

http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/QuickHookup/TX-SR606_QSS_En_A.pdf?CFID=918117&CFTOKEN=40624545&jsessionid=f0306ea8a0d68bb60a49102e3e5510576756

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, you’ll need to assign the digital inputs as
necessary using the setup menus on the TX-SR606’s display.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1
DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver to the COAXIAL 2
DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary to assign the digital input.
The onscreen setup menus appear only on a TV that is
connected to the HDMI OUT. If your TV is connected to the composite video or S-Video MONITOR OUT, or the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, use the TX-SR606’s display when changing settings.

Thanks for using FixYa!

Onkyo tx-sr806 reciver ''DTS HD''

hdmi connection between player and AVR. Right?

I am sure you would have also done the first time setup and set all the 7 speaker as well as the subwoofer thru your auto or manual speaker set up and that the reason you are getting Neo6.

On your Receiver, please also check the format of the digital input signal thru "Displaying Source Information" Press the [RECIEVER] button, and then press the [DISPLAY] buttorn repeatedly to cycle thru the available information.

a).. If the information shown say that DTS - ES Discrete, DTS- Matrix, DTS -HD and so on.... then we need to check as to why the receiver is not accepting the signal.
b).If the information shows otherwise and a 7.1 signal is not availalbe, then its possible that the source(in this case the BD player/or the recording is not sending the required signal).

lets take the case (a). In this case if you have all the 7.1 set up in place and you are getting the required signal , then you can assign a default listening mode to each input source that will be selected automatically when you select each input source.

Press [RECEIVER] button followed by [SETUP] button and enter listening mode setup, use up , down buttons to select the input source that you want to set and press [ENTER].

then use [up], [down] button to select the signal format that you want to set.
then use the [[LEFT] and [RIGHT] buttons to select a listening mode.

When you are finished, you can press [SETUP] again.

The above is with experience with ONKYO AV Receivers. In case you have a problem , please let me know so that I can go thru the SETUP menu of your particular receiver i.eTX-SR- 806.

HOpe the above sort out. DO let me know.
Please do rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa!

Hi I have an Onkyo TX-SR875. The AV receiver display panel has gone, so I reset it to factory defaults to see if it would bring it back - it didn't. Worse can't now see the on-screen setup menu to setup...

This is a common problem on onkyo receivers like the 805, 875 etc. The front panel display board has 2 faulty resistors(marked 9304 & 9310) which can blow out easily. Replacing them with some very basic soldering, resolved the issue for me.

View this link on the AVS forum for detailed instructions .

Onkyo 805 zone 2 problem

I just figured out what I was doing wrong last night. On the 806 at least, when zone 2 is not powered (receiver is set to act) there is a separate volume control 'level' that is on the receiver a couple buttons right of the zone 2 button. By default this level appeared to be set to -50db. As soon as I turned up this level sound came out of my zone two.
