Here is what you need to do to update the map your Garmin nuvi 200; first make sure the unit is fully charged, then go to the Garmin web site and
register your product. Next download Garmin Updater and connect your nuvi with a USB cable directly to your computer and not thru a USB hub.
Let the update go directly to the GPS and not a folder. It will take a
few hours even with a fast internet connection. When done follow the instructions on your screen. I have attached a link
to the Garmin site. Thanks for using FixYa
The error message you are receiving about maps is actually a sign of a firmware corruption problem, which just happens from time to time with electronic devices. Updating the firmware of your nuvi will replace the corrupt firmware.
steps to take to update your Nuvi 200:
after you register it, go HERE and download the Garmin web updater. after you run and install the web updater, start your nuvi and connect it to your computer via the usb cable provided, then start the web updater program if it doesnt start automaticly when your nuvi is connected. then just follow the directions. its pretty much automatic.
