I'm sorry. Based upon the lack of response on the original posting, I was not aware you were waiting. The only update there was a TFT rating. I will look up the specific parts tonight and update the original posting with the details and instructions.

Vertical scan section circuit fault. Check and replace damaged component/s at its vertical scan output section circuit. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Check the site in 'Mosaic' view. It will make search easy. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

I have a white line running down the centre of my tv screen. It is a jvc and dvd combo. the dvd player is on the side of the screen

If you are having a white line in the middle of the screen and sound it an indication that you have blown the vertical deflection amplifier. Don not switch on the TV till you get it fixed as you can damage the picture tube in the central area permanently.
It is a 11 lead IC mounted on an a aluminum heat sink. Will cost you about less than 10$ plus labor to replace.

I have a sanyo DS35580 and there is a blue line across the middle of the screen

You haven't stated whether there is screen or picture. If you see only a blue line across the screen with high brightness, vertical output Ic of your TV has burned out. Don't switch on the set further or increase its brightness, till the fault is retified. Otherwise there will a phosphur burn occur where the blue line is now, and it is internal, whcih cannot be retified anymore.

There was a power surge ,a black and then a blue line came on the screen,tv went off. when switch on a blue line appears, thanx

I assume by a blue line you are seeing a seeing a single line left to right across the screen. If this is the case it is a failure in the vertical deflection circuitry. There is no simple repair as a part or parts have failed. In the event of a "power surge" there could be a number of components affected. The unit would really need to be diagnosed by a competent technician. I have worked on many of this model and they are certainly repairable, but probably need two people to move it as they are very heavy as you know. I would get an estimate on the repair and make a decision based on that.

SAmsung has two white lines across screen with no picture

If the 2 white lines are in the centre of the screen it sounds like you have a fault called 'field collapse' . The 'x' or horizontal circuit on the tv deflects the beam across the screen which in your case is ok because the line runs across the screen ok. The 'y' or field circuit on the tv deflects the beam down the screen. Without a circuit diagram for your tv i cannot point to individual components.

Durabrand TV/DVD dct1481

The blue screen is fairly common and is displayed when inadequate signal is present.
In other words, 'no reception.'

The weak BBC1 signal is kind of a confirmation of your poor signal strength.

Hi.

Just read your list of problems The first fault (Diagonal lines & picture collapse from left & right) Sounded like either A poor connection or dry solder joint either on scan coils or scan coil plug / socket on main pcb.
If this were the case the engineer that called out should have spotted this & sorted it very easily. But you say it is still the same so what did he do ?
Did he give you a reciept with break down of what he did ? If yes please post it here for me to go over.

The sound problem you describe has thrown me a little so could you please post your tv model number on this page so I can see if this is a stock fault.

The static shocks you are getting is relatively normal & not a problem unless you are getting them off of speaker grilles or even tv casing if it is silver in colour.
I am UK based & have access to samsung technical but I will need your tv model number.

Blue tint and lines on screen.

Those lines sound like "retrace lines" and several things can cause them. The most common are shorts inside the picture tube and shorted semiconductors in the video driver circuits. They can also be seen if the blue screen voltage is too high or if someone has tampered with the screen voltage control.
