If the monitor led is indicating stand by and it seems as if the monitor is still on, could be a sign of an aging monitor. As long as the led changes along with the function of the monitor there's really no way to indicate the monitor still on after shut down especially when the led is amber telling you it's on standby mode.

Probably your SMPS watts is not enough. Compare the watts of your current SMPS with the older one. You may need to get it replaced if necessary.

When i turn my computer on the power light and

Hello,

If your computer turns on and your monitor stays in stand by mode, then there is no communication between your video card and the monitor.
You could check if the cable is plugged in correctly or even faulty.

It is also possible that there is a problem with your video card. Maybe physically uninstalling and reinstalling it could solve it.

If none of this helps, then you might want to check a new video card.

Hope this helped.

Computer will not stay in sleep mode. It reboots in about 10 seco

The PC comes back out of the sleep mode by input from the keyboard, mouse, or if it's configured in the BIOS, by the network card. If you are connected to other PC's, the network card might constantly be passing info back and forth throughout the network and then it won't remain in the sleep mode. First thing I'd do is check if there is a setting in the BIOS which makes the PC come out of sleep mode by the network card.

The mouse and keyboard can also be pretty hyper. You can sometimes just sit in front of your PC and blow air onto your mouse or keyboard and the PC reacts. Therefore, if you have your PC in a room with a slight draft, it might help to keep the doors & windows closed. Any small vibration may do the job, so make sure the table isn't on top of something that vibrates, even if ever so slightly.

Comuter will not stay in standby mode.

So why do you need the computer in stand-by mode anyway? My computers are either on or off. Off saves power and hardware.
