Sounds like the motor is struggling to push out the front. Have put in new battery and changed the card.
I have a feeling this is going to cost!

Hi,

The error E45 is a lens sensor issue.
Either the camera has got very damp or grit has got into the lens.
Now here's the fix which so far has worked for me with many similar canon models.

If your camera is out of warranty give it a good hard slap, canons are notorious for jammed lenses and shutter, being just a thin sliver of plastic any damp tends to make them stick together, hold the camera and bash the edge next to the lens against the palm of you hand as hard as you can, bash your camera against a bit of carpet on the bench.

This iften solves the problem let me know the result.

Sir,

It is basically a shutter/ lens error, and all I've heard is that it's expensive. Kodak tells you that it means the camera "requires repair." Most people seem to throw them out rather than repair them with this problem, but definitely call Kodak and at least get a price estimate.

thanks
good luck

This can be a mechanical problem already , so it will be better for you to take it to a service center near you and have it fix there, because it may need to replace some parts of this camera...

Hope that helps........

Try a hard reset first - Remove batteries and SD card, wait 5 minutes, and replace everything and see if that helps..

Likely something is causing the lens not to retract. Pushing on the lens should dislodge it and get your camera
working again. Or you could try gently pulling the lens out manually. You can also try giving it a good hard slap; hold the camera and bash the edge next to the lens against the palm of you hand as hard as you can. If the lens protrudes out, well and good. Try tightening the lens by twisting it as far as it will go (if possible).

Should this not work, then I suggest buying a new camera, as the cost of repairs are not justified.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions,
    please post them here.

Try removing batteries and putting them back in place.

The error is because the lens are stuck an cannot extend. try tapping gently the back of the camera while you turn it on, or helping the lens out with your fingernail.

If you can get the lens to extend, the error should clear.

If helping the lens out by slapping gently the back of the camera , or pulling lens mechanism did not help (sorry for your finger nail), then the camera must be taken apart.
The repairman will disassemble the whole lens mechanism, clean and lubricate the lens gear, and mount the camera back.
When the simple solution does not work, that is the only way to fix lens error.

This may be due to some sand or big dust particles stuck in lens assembly

try cleaning the assembly

have you tried a hard reset?

It is basically a shutter/ lens error, and it is expensive.

If you can hear the motor going, start up the camera and push the lens
back in. Likely something is causing the lens not to retract (sand or
something who knows). Pushing on the lens should dislodge it and get
    your camera working again.

This error is caused due to the failure of lens alignment system.Try following the procedure below..
it may be the lens contacts or grit in the gears
    open it up on
the side of the lens you will see a row of thin gold coloured contacts
that report the lens position back to the cpu sometimes these get dirty
or bent.on the side of the lens is a motor, look where the gear
meets the lens and use a pin to flip out any grit that is stuck in the
    teeth.
Its very unlikely the lens is "out of alignment" this just
cant happen unless its been dropped or bashed, in which case it may be
    broken.

Error e45

Hi,

Kodak indicates that the e45 error means that it's time to repair your camera.

But, it could be that your battery no longer has the capacity to adequately power the camera, especially the lens function. Lithium Ion batteries lose capacity over time. If your battery is over 3 years old, a simply replacing the battery may solve the problem.

Camera locked - camera error #E45

Hi

www.Kodak.com says:
"E45" appears on your camera's display when your camera requires service or repair.

I think it is a lens error. They have a page on www.kodak.com called Step-by-Step Solutions and Repair. This is for USA only.
See what they suggest.

I may be cheaper just to get a new camera.

Hope this helps.

Turned off camera, opened hatch to battery and memory card too quickly. Turned on camera Error E45 displayed on screen.

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

V610 KODAK ERROR E45

This problem is frequently due to weak/worn out batteries or corroded battery terminals inside the camera. If charging/replacing the batteries does not clear the problem, remove the batteries and wipe the terminals with a soft cloth (heavy corrosion may require a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue left in the camera by the cleaning. Clean the terminals on the batteries in the same manner, and then replace them in the camera. This cures most problems, but if it doesn't work for you, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/repair/troubleshooting/troubleshooting.jhtml?pq-path=6198

It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.
