When printing envelopes ensure you set paper/media type to Envelopes, and feed via tray 1/bypass . Paper type setting sets correct fuser temp, the fuser is the hot bit at the rear that "melts" the image into the paper.

If paper type is set correctly then I recommend you change the fuser unit.

Ensure envelopes are standard type. ie you are printing on paper envelopes

Reboot turned machine off then on again then came up with CE40

The toner is not getting treated or hot by the drum, if its under warranty call Tech Support if not then you will likely have to replace the drum.

I have a Brother MFC-6490. The printer can not print in black. The black cartridge is new. There is no problem with color printing. Thanks for your help.

Remove the black ink cartrige and rub the print head into a plain paper with rubbing alcohol until ink flows. If not rubbing alcohol, no problem. Just rub the printhead into a plain paper.

Then try to print again. I hope it helps you. Please post comments if you need more help. Regards

My black ink is not working please tell me how to clean it

To clean it, remove the ink cartridge and rub the print head into a plain paper with rubbing alcohol until ink flows. Then run the print nozzle for 2 time for further cleaning the print head. Then try to print again.

Another way is to soak the print head only into a how water for 5 minutes until ink loose up and ink flows, rub the print head into a plain paper with rubbing alcohol until ink flows. Run the print nozzle and then try to print again

Just replaced black cartridge and it's still not printing

I suggest to remove the cartridge and rub the print head into a plain paper with rubbing alcohol until ink flows. The print the print nozzle for 2 times. Then try to print again.

If not, dip it into a hot water for 5 minutes and then rub it again in a paper with rubbing alochol.

Run the print cleaning maintenance like print nozzle and then try to print again.

If not, you need to go to printing preferences and check the box GRAYSCALE in the print quality.

Please let me know if you need more help.
