I have 2 of these same model Viewsonic LCD monitors that exhibit the same behaviour. One of them would do this for about 5 minutes and then (eventually !) stay running. The other one had been set aside because of this issue, and I don't have any other info from the users.

My suspicion is that is a failing power supply or transformer/regulator. These monitors have full mains power direct to the monitor, so there must be some voltage regulation or step-down for their operation.

I am looking for a service technician to look at these and see if they are viable to be repaired. I'll report back when I know more.

Hi

Actually the common problem of viewsonic LCD monitor is bad electrolytic capacitor at primary, secondary & inverter area, if your lcd using power adaptor test the voltage out, use analog or digital tester range 50v dc, if the voltage out is accurate dont be sure to your adaptor working good, open it and find bad electrolytic capacitor inside. That is common problem of viewsonic LCD monitor could cause of display flashing then back to black after few seconds. Suspect inverter area lastly mainboard.

Gud Luck!

If the LCD automatic off after few seconds, voltage test the secondary of power supply for normal output.Check inverter area

the two FET IC N and P Channel, the two IC's were used to drive each high voltage transformer. Check these for shorted Pico fuse or turned high ohm, shorted or leaky push pull transistor, ballast capacitor, burnt pins or loose connections in the backlights connector, check inverter IC use this site for searching part number.

    www.alldatasheet.com. Lastly suspect the mainboard.

Screen goes black or pixelates

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Hi i have a problem about my lcd viewsonic va702, when starting my computer i can see the image for 1 sec then it turn black ...lcd light is ok and computer too already tried with other lcd all works fine...

this works for Dell monitors with a similar problem: shut down, turn off monitor and pc, turn off at wall socket, and remove power plugs from wall socket. wait about 30 seconds. plug back in, turn on, and all should be well? I have used this 3 times on a Dell PC with a Viewsonic monitor.

Flicking on and off

If the LCD screen flicks on and off and you can see a dim image on the screen when you view at a sharp angle, then most likely you have a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp.
