Zenith Presentation Capacitor

Thanks for the information about the need to replace the capaitor for our Zenith Presentation TVs at the schools. Are all universal 100uf 50 volt capacitors the same or do I need one specifically for this model of TV? I see they are very cheap but wanted to make sure I order the right ones? Any suggestions as to the best place for ordering them? Thanks again for the help!

Hello again! Sorry, I was not more exact... capacitors are not all alike...too long to go into...100uf 50volt Electrolytic Capacitors are what you need.
I always use the phone to order what I need and when you tell the parts person you need a 100uf 50 volt cap it's already understood that you want Electrolytic capacitors. It' s pretty rare to have to order the other types of capacitors as they are extremely long lived and are not in "high stress" circuits anyway.
Can you please tell me the model # of these sets. I will obtain (if I don't already have it) the service manual and make sure I am telling you 100% correctly what your problem is. Zenith tv's have always been notorius for this problem all through the '80s \ '90s \ early 2000s though. That's why I am telling you it is this same capacitor in all these sets
It makes me happy to help a school too! I am the single Dad of two elementary school age girls.
Is your school system in the USA? Just curious... Hope you have nice day!

Hello! I couldn't find the schematic online yesterday and may have to visit the Authorized Zenith Service Center here in my city to obtain a copy...I used to work there. Anyway, I will continue my search for the schematic today. If all else fails you can send me a picture of the circuit board and we can get the units working. 90 % of these tv's will have the exact same problem.I will get back in touch with you to update you with my progress.

I believe you have to replace it. Also, if you have to run your fan on high to get any airflow then I would purchase a better fan and not a store brand. Look for a least a 13 degree blade pitch.

Air is not coming out of vents like it should. Could I possibly need a new blower motor?

Hello, it is possible that either the blower motor is running slow due to a weak capacitor or the blower motors bearings are giving out. I would replace the capaitor first since it is less expensive and see if it helps, if not the motor will need to be replaced. Also, make sure the filter is clean, blower wheel is clean before replacing the capacitor. Sometimes dirt will cause the wheel to turn slower.

Every school block facebook for no reason facebook is a popular network

Your best bet for resolution is to come up with a well thought out presentation of why you should have facebook.com access at your local school. Then present this information to your administrative staff for review. Also petitions signed by the student body could help.

Yes you should be able to use this capaitor the higher voltage for the new cap is ok as you can use higher voltages just no lower then 1900volts. And the capacitance value is very close to the orginal. You should be ok with using this capacitor.

Goodmorning, bought a zenith tv didn't get the remote. Wonndering how i can programme it using just the buttons on the tv. How do i get the menus up. it only catches threes channels as of now.

Hello
There are two types Zenith TVs. One type will have "Menu" button on its front panel and other will not. If your Zenith is the first type, you can programme it without a remote control. If it is the second type, you must have a remote control hanset to programme it.
Programming method
First connect the TVs antenna socket at its back with external antenna or cable.

* With the remote control in hand, press the POWER key to
turn on the Presentation TV.
** Press MENU repeatedly until the Setup menu appears.

*** Using the Up/Down arrow on the remote control, highlight
Auto Program on the screen

**** Press the Right or Left arrow to go to the Auto Program
menu.

***** Using the Up/Down arrow, choose either Cable TV or Off-
Air Antenna on the screen.
****** Press the Right or Left arrow to begin the Channel Search.
******* Press ENTER when the channel search is done.

Note: Auto Program finds channels being received by the TV
tuner
Cable will not work unless you subscribe to a cable service
OK.

Loud pop, black screen, Turned TV off unplugged, then restarted power light comes on for a couple seconds then turns red. TV is about 4 yrs. old.

That loud pop you heard was a capacitor on the power supply - if you have electronic experience - pull the rear panel and look for bulged/busted or leaking caps replace them if you have component level repair experience or replace the board if you do not - also dont kill yourself- tvs have enough voltage/amperage to kill humans.

Thanks,
Michael

100uf,35volt capacitor is bad in the power supply. Take the back off. Follow the power cord to the main board. Straight in front of where the power cord goes into the board you will see a heat sink (tall metal) that has a transistor attached to it. Right next to the transistor will be a small capacitor about the diameter of a #2 pencil and about a 1\2 inch tall. There are only a couple of capacitors in this spot on the board, just make sure you replace the one that is marked 100uf, 50volt. Replace this capacitor and the sets will work. Let me know if this works, please. If it doesn't work, let me know the sets' model # and I'm sure I can assist you further. Have a great day!!!

Want to know capacitor specs. for 3 ton Janitrol Condensor Unit Fan motor capacitor and Compressor capacitor

The capaitors should be clearly marked on the original capacitors. You will find a voltage rating and an MFD rating printed on them. The rule is you can go 10% over but never under on the ratings.
