Hi im new and a bit confused as to where to post.
basically, my laptop screen was going white then normal then white
again.now its just completly white and when i hook it up to an external
monitor it works fine even in windows.its only the LCD on the laptop
that is white. its a HP ZD 7000. I have read in other forums that i
need to take the screen out and clean the connectors ect. i have done
that and its still white but it still works on an external screen
really well. i really love this laptop and i really want it to get
fixed.i have also been told that the laptop screen is fine as it still
goes on even though it is white. any help would be great!!
Hi. I have an Averatec 6200 laptop. After running the three recovery CDs in order to handle a problem with my wireless, I found myelf in a worse state in that I could no longer exit from the BIOS mode back onto the regular screen, even if I use F10 or execute the on-screen instructions that should get me out of the BIOS. Whats wrong? What do I need to do? Anz help would be most appreciated.
my lap is acer aspire 5630, it suddenly turned blank white and i can barely see the words, and windows is running well behind the screen and startup is also good,

You need a new led replacement in your LCD on your laptop. It would be cheaper to do that than buying a LCD. The Inverters for the LCD are easy to replace. make sure you check the model number on your laptop.
The graphics chip needs resoldering (reflow). Got the same laptop in for repair yesterday. At first when power cord plugged in all LEDS stay, hard drive spins but fans don't work and nothing on screen. A bit later everything's dead. I've seen too many HPs with poor soldering issues. can't really say they're making good laptops these years.
Hi, that sounds like the integerated video graphics is going bad and it's not actually the screen. the zd7000's were known for video graphics failure. there was a lawsuit filed against hp for the zd models about a year ago to get a free motherboard replacement because of the video issue but it's too late to send it in now for the free repair. the zd models don't have a replacable video card in them like most laptops which the only way to fix the problem ould be to purchase another motherboard, you could try ebay but they're not that cheap. Rick
Try your old HDD in it and see if that works. If it does work then nothing is damaged except your DVD drive/Controller. Try putting the new HDD in another computer, installing windows then putting it back in the HP. If all else fails then flash the bios with an updated image and see if that rectifies the problem.
You still might have a problem with your connector. It might have a cold soldered joints. Try to power on your laptop with no keyboard cover in the way were you can have an access to the place where cable is connected to your motherboard then try to wiggle it a little. If your video is coming up and down, you have a cold soldered joints. Another considerations would be:
1. Your LCD cable
2. Your LCD goes bad
