Connecting Lyd Model#203 mini-cam to Sony DCR-HC28 Handycam
The Lyd mini-cam will supposedly work with a Sony DCR-HC32 as seen on this demonstration video http://www.instructables.com/id/Covert-Spy-Sunglasses/
I have the same color/audio mini-cam NTSC CMOS. When I connect it to my DCR-HC28 utilizing the Sony a/v cable the mini-cam doesn't work. I know the Lyd mini-cam is working because I checked it on a television.
The a/v cable on the HC32 in the demo is 2-plug where mine is 3 (video, left audio, right audio). Do I need to utilize certain settings on the handycam.

It can be a tiny dew switch mounted on near the drum motor, Which you can change off values with a resisitor for the fault .
Also if you can blow hot air into the cassette tray this would enable the dew switch to open out.
did you happen to drop the cam? there could be a technical error with the LCD screen. take it to the nearest Sony service center and have them take a look at it. you can try resetting the cam and see if it changes anything.
There is connecting ribbon wire between LCD board and Camera main board and this ribbon wire is cracked and needs to be replaced. Let me know if you want to replace it at own to provide you part number.

Hi, I'm from the Philippines. I have the same handycam model. The first time I connected it to my PC (Windows XP) via firewire, nothing happened. It cannot detect my handycam. I returned the firewire card to the shop where I bought it. They tested it and the firewire card is ok but the firewire cable is defective so they replaced it. When I got home, I tested it again but still the handycam cannot be detected by my PC. I went online to find a solution and I came upon a solution that you need to attach/connect your charger to the handycam before you connect your handycam to your PC. It said that the handycam needs a steady supply of power to be able to connect to the PC. It sounded weird but I tried it and BINGO! The handycam got detected. I was able to capture my videos.
I also have a TV Tuner & Capture Card but when I capture videos thru the RF cables, the videos losses quality and videos are blurred. Thats the reason I bought a firewire card.
