Follow this instructions:1. connect via hard wired connection using your PC (network cable)2. open your internet explorer or any browser.3. type the numbers 192.168.1.1 on the address bar4. you will be routed to your router's settings, type admin for USERNAME: and admin for PASSWORD.5. look for the basic setup/settings6. look for the wireless settings7. under your SSID comes the WEP or WPA-PSK option8. that is your wi-fi password, then modified it and remember the password you use for you will need to enter it on your pc when you are connecting via wireless connection.you can select ASCII for password. it should be alpha numeric or combination of letters and numbers.9. select save and apply. then you are good to go and your wifi is now secured thanks for choosing www.fixya.com and kindis ly rate this post

It does not work with linkys wireless router. the internet works well when i connect directly from the router to one of my computers.

If you are using the switch shown, then you may have to turn in the ports from the switch's console. By default, most business class switches have their switch ports off (for security reasons). You will need to console into the switch and manually turn the ports on (if the switch came with a software kit, it would be easier to preform this task). If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

My linkys e1000 is connected to my desktop internet, but not my laptop. how do I get that to work?

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
Make sure that the DHCP server on the router is enabled

I need security code # for my wireless linkys router

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.

I need help with connecting on my laptop with linky's router.

If you can get to 192.168.1.1 using a working computer or the laptop you want to connect to the router using a wired connection first. Username should be left blank and password is "admin". On the Wireless page of the router, change the SSID or name of your wireless network to any name you choose. For the security you may select anything that your laptop supports. Remember that any key that you type in is the same as the wireless setting of the laptop. Then save the setting. You may also need to unplug and plug again the power of the router.

I need to have our linkys secured lock. How can we have this locked. PLease help! Thank you, Patty

You may go to this link below to setup wireless security or you may call 8003267114 which is the Linksys free support hotline. If you will follow the link below i would recommend the WPA only. If your router is more than a few years old, please give me the model number as there is a different setup for that.

hello, Anytime windows gets stuck "aquireing the connection" there is usually a security key thats not entered correctly. Do you know if you configured your wireless network for "wpa" or "wep" ? If so, we need to get that setup on your Laptop.
