Question about Protron PDV-288 7" LCD Portable DVD Player
It spins and sounds like its comming on then it says wrong disc...can you help me? what are the settings supossed to be...my son was changing them thinking it was the problem, I mean as far as 4:3 LB and sp-raw, PAL1 or NTSC and PAL2...I have no idea what they mean... please help...IA...Thank you
The 4:3 is an aspect ratio the ratio of horizontal to vertical size and the non-HDTV standard; the latter is 16:9.
The PAL and NTSC abbreviations refer to the picture and synchronization standards whereby NTSC is the American standard and the PALs are European. The setting "sp-raw" refers to an unprocessed video format that requires further processing before it can be viewed.
If the disk you have was made for the American market, you should be set to NTSC and the aspect ratio to whatever the disk is specified, most recent disks will be made to conform to HD specifications, but may also be viewed in "letterbox" form which is a shrunken 16:9 box with pronounced edges around it.
