Question about Frigidaire Dishwashers

Main control timer hangs up

I have replaced the timer on my Frigidaire dishwasher M/N FDB710LCQ0 and every time the dial gets to about the 7:00 oclock position the timer hangs up. It will stay in the wash cycle forever (never let it go past 3 hours though). As soon as I advance it a little, it continues through the cycle. I thought that the timer was faulty and replaced it again with the same results. The knob is definitely not binding.

You don't indicate the model, but if it has a dial type timer and the unit is getting old, the dial timer motors have a tendency to weaken over time to the point where they just don't have the energy necessary to finish turning the timer any longer. The only fix at that point is either a new timer assembly (not cheap) or, and more preferably, a whole new dishwasher.

Jenn air. Quiet seriesii won't start. Lights on panel flashing. Tried turning off power for fifteen minutes at breaker.

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Thermal Fuse If the dishwasher won't start the thermal fuse might have blown. The thermal fuse helps to prevent damage to the dishwasher by turning off power so that it doesn't overheat. Once blown, the thermal fuse will have to be replaced for the dishwasher to work.

Door Switch The door switch, or switches, are sometimes called interlock switches. The door switch prevents the dishwasher from running while the door is open. If the dishwasher won't start, the switch or switches might be defective. To access the door switches, remove the control panel or inside door panel - depending on the model. They can be tested for continuity.

Main Control Board The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher. If the dishwasher won't start the main control board might be defective. YOU should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

Touchpad and Control Panel If the touchpad is defective, the control board might not get the signal for the selections made. If the dishwasher won't start and the display doesn't seem to change properly when the buttons are pressed, the touchpad might need to be replaced. On some models the touchpad and control panel are sold together and will need to be replaced at the same time.

Touchpad If the touchpad is defective, the control board might not get the signal for the selections made. If the dishwasher won't start and the display doesn't seem to change properly when the buttons are pressed, the touchpad might need to be replaced.

Timer The timer allows power to flow to the proper parts at the proper times. If the dishwasher won't start, the timer might be defective. Keep in mind that timers are often misdiagnosed as the cause of a problem. Check other components first before replacing the timer.

Frigidaire dishwasher does not complete cycle

Power from the house
Is there power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electrical circuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch
The door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it.

Wiring
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dishwasher, burns and breaks the connection. If that's the problem, the wires must be repaired/replaced as necessary. If that's not the problem, check the wiring to the door switch, the wiring between the door and the lower part of the dishwasher, and the wiring to the timer. Repair any broken, burned, brittle, or defective wiring, using the proper appliance-grade wire and connectors.

Timer or selector switch
Although it's uncommon, the timer or the selector switch may be defective. If so, you need to replace the defective part, because neither of these can be repaired.

Dishwasher runs several hours

OK, that several hour wash cycle seems to be very abnormal and, the only way this can happen is if the timer control mechanism is damaged. this is referred to as a Overrun error. simply replacing the timer will fix this issue.

Dishwasher stalls

If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:

Water-heating cycle
Timer
Water-heating cycle Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timer Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

I had the same problem. Turn the HIGH TEMP buttons off. Simply turning them off corrected this problem for me. Mine got stuck in two places and I had to manually turn the dials or the washer would run all night.

what part? Frigidaire Dishwasher FDB1050REC. Dishwasher goes through cycle but then light gets stuck on "CLEAN". I turn off and on the circuit breaker. Three lights flash on the control pad. I press start/cancel and the light off and I can then start another cleaning cycle again like normal. Of course I can't do this every time I want to use the dishwasher. But I have noticed that if I press cancel during the "DRY" phase (DRY light is on), before it gets to "CLEAN". I can use the machine again no problem. In essence, I have to catch it while the "DRY" light is on, before the clean light goes on. I have run into this problem before and here is a detailed step by step description: The first time this happened, I was told that it was a control board problem so bought a new one, installed it but it did not work. Someone the suggested that it was a door latch problem. I then replace the door latch and it worked!! A year later the same problem occurred so I replaced it with a new one again, thinking that if it solved the problem the first time then it should again. Unfortunately it did not work. So I tried putting back the original control board and it worked again. So this time it seemed to be the control board. Worked for another few months until I smelled something burning. After that the machine did not work and it is at the stage that I described above. Are you able to help diagnose the problem? Could it be the wires were over heated? If so that would be of great help. Hopefully my description is detailed enough. Many thanks, Edward
