Ricoh R7 'unmatched files'

Recently I've taken pictures on my r7 and when I go into playback mode the screen is grey with 'unmatched files' appearing on the LCD screen. It's happening to older photos on the card now. It's not the SD card because I've tested it on three different cards. The camera is two months old so what could be the problem?

Same thing is happening to me. Although when I take new photos I can see these, but can't get to see the older ones through the playback mode.

It appears that if you connect the camera to the pc and then rotate the image directly on the card (which is in the camera), when you try to playback, you get this error. Easiest way out is to copy the file from the camera to your pc and then make the necessary changes.

It could be that you've used the SD card in a PC/Card reader etc? I've had a similar problem in the past, but so long as I reformat the card every time it's been in my PC, it seems to be ok. However, it also seemed to be more the case with cards that had been used very frequently, so if you say you've tried a few cards, I could be wrong - but might suggest giving the re-formatting thing a try anyway to see if that helps.

I should probably have added that reformatting the card will delete all data from it.

My Ricoh R7 doesn't take any pictures any more. It doesn't matter what sim card i put in it says" card is write protected" What can I do?

Hi!
That is not actually a SIM card. It is a memory card. You have to take it off from the camera and then look for a small switch on the side. You have to move it the other way around to unlock the memory card.
Let me know how that goes.
Good luck!

Caplio R7 Lens having black spots

Sounds like the spots are on your sensor. If on the lens, it would be too out of focus to matter.

My Ricoh Caplio R7 won't recognise the SD card anymore (and only saves to the limited internal memory). I've tried other SD cards and they don't work either.

1. Go into the menu and scroll to "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. 2. With the memory card out of the camera, go into the menu and scroll to "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.
3. If the pictures from the card are safely on your computer, format the card in the camera. 4. Be sure the slide switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position.

If the images are okay in the camera but not on the computer, connect directly to the computer with either your camera or card reader. If you're using a USB hub, bypass it. Plug directly into the computer instead. A USB hub will sometimes scramble a picture file.

Camera lens won't close says error 00000

This is a known problem, they wont easily admit it but we had 2 R6's and an R7 with the exact same issue. If you look on ricoh site they had a firmware patch for the R6 to try and fix this issue but it dis not work.

Lady at ricoh UK admitted there is a design fault with the Ricoh R6 and R7 and she sent me an R8 which has a whole new redesigned mechanism.

Dont let them sell you useless kit, get a replacement free of charge or complain.

"r7" Error Code

If the camera works OK, then the r7 means that you have room in your memory buffer for 7 more pictures to take ("remaining 7"). As soon as you take a new picture, it gets transferred instantly to memory compact flash memory, and again r7 will display. The instance when there is r6, r4, etc. is short lasting, that you would not notice. Change you camera setting, let say for small size JPG, and you should see that many more files will fit in the buffer, as indicated by a larger number after the letter r.
