Hi curlyall,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: You have just brought a secound hand spa, you are woundering what sort of chemicals etc are required, there are no instuctions with it

If your spa is the type that you fill once, then you must treat it just like a swiming pool. Go to the local pool supplies store. They will be happy to set you up. Don't forget PH testing kit! Test it every day. And I prefer non chlorine chemicals. It's also helpfull to have a small submersible pump in case you need to replace the water sometime. Happy soaking!

Tip

Keep your swimming pool water clear

Did you ever wonder how some pools stay so clear? Here is a tip that has worked for years with our family. We add three boxes of baking soda every month and only use a chlorine tablet in the floating tablet holder and thats it! Just pour the baking soda into the pool water. No other chemicals! The pool stays clear all summer long. Dont mess with all those chemicals! You will be saving money and making your pool duties much more simple. Try it. I promise you will be thanking me later :)

What chemicals do I need in my intex inflatable hot tub

Hi, according to this site How to Treat Your Hot Tub Best Hot Tub for 2014
First check th pH levels with the pH level checker. That is pretty straightforward and should be included in instructions with your pH checker (which may have come with your hot tub)

It's good to do a chlorine shock once you fill the hot tub with water.

So what will you need?
pH tester/pH tester strips
chlorine
And chemicals for balancing ph ... pH+ and pH- which you will surely find in a shop with pools.
Each of this should come with instructions.
Good luck!

Indoor swimming pool has bad smell only when running spa pump or ozone pump with lots of foaming

Hi.. I tell my customer to boil a glass jar and lid, like your canning. and use this jar to take the sample of water out of your pool - spa to have tested, take it to several places to have it tested.
and ozone pumps are not good to run inside in a open environment, I think the produce positive ions. but kill bacteria and odors, so if this is a SPA run the pump and ozone generator for a few days with the correct amount of anti foam and cover on it should clear right up. to avoid this problem pool and spas must have the pump on a timer or set to circulate !
if your not going to use your portable spa for say a season you must drain it !!! and drain the pumps. this will ensure that you get many many happy years of service out of your pumps and spa.
Hi; I'm Jay the pool pump motor repair guy in sunny longwood Florida. were the pool is always open, so jump in and get wet the waters just fine.

Pumps Capacity?

# Aboveground filter systems and small inground pools (under 10,000 gals) should use a Low Head pump like a Maxim, or Dynamo or Power-Flo. # Pools from 10,000-20,000 gals can use a Medium Head pump like a SuperPump, a Pinnacle or Cygnet. # Pools over 20,000 gals could possibly use the High Head pumps like, Super II, Challenger, Ultra-Flo or the Sta-Rite pumps. # Pool/ Spa combos with at least 3 lines influent and 2 - 3 back to the pool, 2" plumbing may be able to handle the Ultra High Head pumps like NorthStar and the WhisperFlo
