HP p6530uk, unable to start OS when loaded to new hard drive. Says, "cannot be installed on this computers Hardware" yet I am trying to install win 7 which is what it had on originally.

is it the same size hard drive? You may have a problem with what is called the branding of the main board. What that means is the mother board has information programmed into it that tells the restore disk that it belongs to that system and what it needs to load on to that system for a factory restore. Most of the disks have programs the go to other systems of the same series so they make 1 disk for the series and then program it to only load the programs that came on that system. You would need to take it to someone who can get the program to see if that is the problem after they rebrand the system.

Computer will reboot on Virus/Spyware scan at random. I have: 1. Installed clean XP SP2 parallel system and booted that one. Same problem. 2. Memory Test at boot time is OK. 3. Air circulation from Power...

The weak airflow from the power supply unit (PSU) is suspect. Virus / Malware scanning is a disk and processor intensive operation - resulting in greater load on both. Increased load translates to heat. Check to be sure that the processor (CPU) fan is running, too. An overheating PSU and CPU can cause all types of problems.

Are you using a genuine XP install disk/image or a disk of questionable origin? Use of bogus OS disks is "asking for trouble".

If your system BIOS or set up (accessed during boot) allows, try to located the page that displays component temperatures and fan speeds. Check this immediately after rebooting from a an unplanned shut down - if unable to locate this set up page, download HWMonitor at:

http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

It is a free program - choose the 32 or 64 bit version. Note fan RPM and CPU core temps to help determine where heat is coming from - or which fans aren't operating correctly.

I am unable to fromat my IBM machine, its not

your bios maybe infected with a virus. first try removing the cmos battery in your ibm machine for 1 minute and put it back. next, make sure that the hard disk is working and is not corrupted try making a new partition in a different pc. Paste all the files from the windows xp installer to your newly made partition. next put the hard disk into your ibm pc. and wait till it boots into your hard drive and the setup will begin. make another partition for your windows xp system and install it to that directory. if you cannot boot into your hard disk, there may be a problem with your ide cables. try checking the cables from your ibm pc connected to your hard disk.pm me if you still have problems and questions.. heres my email jmizpahadonai777@gmail.com
Thank you

Antivirus

Restart the machine while repeatedly pressing F8. You will get a series of boot up options. Choose Safe Mode. It will take sometime to boot up in safe mode. Once windows is loaded go to control panel, choose add/remove programmes and remove nod32 and then Mcfee if it is there. Shut down and restart. I hope this will solve the problems.

Unable to re-install office xp software from hp supplied cd's that came with hp laptop.

Are you unable to install, reinstall, or activate ?

Typically, Office won't come on a separate CD; it would come as a trial on your installation disk. If it's supplied (like application CDs), maybe try using the 1st disc out of the set. Also, you may run Control Panel - Add/Remove programs and see that you don't ahve any other office installations or office trials in place.

IBM Netvista desktop bios problem

this is more like a workaround that I used on a laptop which cd room drive just failed (and which I did not want to replaced as it was more expensive than the whole laptop)

If you can't select the device you want to boot from.. you may want to partition your hdd and format it so it loads a dos operating sytem .. use another machine and a win98 startup disk to do this then copy your I386 folder from your winxp cd into the new formatted hdd so when you put the hdd back into the IBM machine it loads dos and then going into the I386 folder you can run a winnt command for you to install the os.
