Question about Toshiba D-VR4 DVD Recorder/VCR
I have tried 3 different brands of DVD, all DVD-RW as specified and I cannot record from the TV on any of them. According to the manual, this error means "cannot record - no disc space." This cannot be correct as they are brand new dvds with nothing recorded on them.
Any help would be appreciated.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

You could try the factory initializing process I found on another webesite (AVS Forums): "Had this message pop up a few weeks ago. Tried the solutions in the manual, no go. Tried unplugging it for 7 days, no go. Called Toshiba customer service @1-800-631-3811, the tech told me: 1) turn on TV and set to receive your DVD signal 2) Turn on DVD player and remove any discs 3) put Dvd / VCR selector on DVD 4) at the same time, push channel selector button UP (^) along with the PLAY button 5) hold the buttons down until TV screen shows "Initializing" message, release buttons, let DVD player go thru it's reset cycle and shut down 6) turn DVD player on and watch your DVD movies now Works like a charm. Put this in your manual for the next time." My unit has not worked since December of last year, I only had it for one year and it conveniently stopped working right after the one year warranty. My unit was not functioning whatsoever past turning it on, but when I did the factory initialization I was able to operate my unit again....UNFORTUNATELY, it still does not read disks, I still get the "Incorrect Disk" message. I guess I could consider it progress. But still try it, it may work for you. My unit just seems to be fried beyond repair. If anyone has any suggestions on how to correct the incorrect disk problem, I would be greatly appreciative. I'm not ready to throw mine away yet!

SOURCE: Problem with DVD-RW's
I had a very similar problem with my Toshiba D-R2. I found two firmware updates on the Toshiba website. One was called 1314.iso and the other was called 1416.iso. All the instructions are there for how to burn a CD and install it on your DVD recorder. It solved my problems - hope it works for you.
