The setting is controlled by your computer not the monitor. I'm assuming you are running Windows - open the Control Panel (from the Start button) and go to Power Options. You can find it in here. If you have problems, get back to me with the specific Operating System you are using and version or service pack level and I can give you more specific details.

Moniter goes into sleep mode after i turn it on. Have to turn off the monitor for 20 seconds and then it comes back on for about 20 seconds and goes back into sleep mode

This may be a problem with the monitor, such as a failing video board, or it may also be a problem with the video card in your computer. If you can try the monitor on another computer or try a different monitor on your computer, you will have the answer. At the price new 18" widescreens are selling for (sub 100.00 in Canada), I would have a hard time justifying spending too much time or money trying to fix this one.

You can take it apart and inspect for bulging capacitors - the tops should be perfectly flat. Even a slight bulge at the top is an indication that the capacitor is bad.

Sleeping moniter

Best thing to do, try another working monitor on your computer, if you can get video to stay with another working monitor then you know the original is bad.

If you get the same symptoms as the original monitor then its possible your computer has no video output and you would need to troubleshoot the computer.

No DVi input, then computer goes to sleep

Hi publicworker,

I had a similar problem whereas my monitor went to sleep mode after a few minutes. I'm running an HP LP 2065 in dual mode with another HP flat screen. However, I did resolve the issue after resetting the output settings.

How to do that:
  • right mouse click on the desktop
  • select graphic options
  • output to
  • extended desktop
Maybe some changings/modification will help you too.

There is an On Display Menu (ODM). You can access it by pushing the button located on the monitor. Use +- buttons to navigate in the menu. Here you can switch off the sleep mode or change the sleep settings. I have a simular problem... I try to turn off the power save function but it seems like it dosen´t want to understand this...

Is it actually going to sleep or is it just really dim in the background? I'm currently investigating one I've been given to fix, and have ordered a new inverter board to try and fix the problem.
