You need to redownload the drivers for your crystal eye web cam. Go to this link:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers When you get there, select "Notebook"...then select "Aspire". Then scroll down and select Aspire 4710 Then where you see "Operating System", select your operating system (ex: XP, Vista, or Windows 7). It will then show all the drivers for your operating system...scroll down until you see the camera driver software and then download and reinstall it. Hopefully this will help...good luck.
the operating system of your laptop is corrupted re installing the OS will solve your problem to do this insert the operating system CD at the CDroom then restart your laptop the CD will booth and the system will ask what you want to do choose repair and follow the instruction from the wizard..good luck hope this helps you.much appreciated if you click the four thumbs up button for my help..
You will have to disconnect and reconnect the video signal plug located under the upper cover (the one with the power button on it). Best you start with a screwdriver in the very corner).

Additionally I removed a small magnet located under the lid cover (remove 6 screws under rubber placers and lift the lid), which I found next to the video cabling. This could have affected the video signal negatively. Lets see how long this fix lasts.....
In my case with an Aspire 4710 it was the old or incorrect chipset drivers from the Acer site. After downloading the proper new drivers from Intel all is fine. http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-022034.htm
Does it sound like it's starting up at all? Is the problem that only the screen turns blank? You might have just disabled the standard output. Try pressing Fn (bottom left on the keyboard) and the F5 on the top a few times to see if the screen toggles back on.
You might also try to run it without the battery, and on the battery only in case it's a faulty battery or power supply that causes the problem.
If not, it sounds lsike a serious problem, so if there is any chance of the waranty still being valid I'd call acer support asap.
