I wasn't clear on the drain part, although I am sure that your lid switch is out. This is part 3949237, I will leave an photo for illustration purpose. First inspect the switch at the right side of the lid, you will see where a striker on the lid goes into the cabinet as it closes, confirm that you don't hear a click or see a firmly installed switch. Look for broken parts by reaching under and pulling on the switch as at times they come apart too.
You can see below number 11 is your switch and can be removed by two screws on the back of the console left and right corner, then pull forward and swing back. Next is the two clips left and right, #6 on the illustration. At this point there is a wire molex plug with a white, gray and green wire going into the cab that has to be unplugged. Once done the switch is held in by the two screws seen where the striker inters the cab and one 5/16 hex on the cab for the ground. The last is the two wire clips and loosing the male part of the molex plug from the cab. The rest is history.

You said it did all but spin which is usually a lid switch. If it still isn't working.. is it agitating? Have you checked the coupler between the motor and gear case. This is the only other component that would go that is why I am asking more about the agitation. If it agitates but no spin then you gear case is out and maybe even a clutch/brake.

Whirlpool Ultimate care II will not spin or drain

The primary promlem is draining. Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or blocked .Water flowing out when the hose is lowered ( the hose needs to be lower than the water level, inside the machine as well) would show if it's blocked. Another cause is a jammed or failed pump. Good luck....Nomess
