I have a T7600 and for some reason it will not play DVD Movies... It will play any other DVDs with no problems, load software no problems, play cds ... no problem, burn cds and DVDs no problem.... It is just Movies that we have purchased from a store. A friend of mine borrowed a couple of the movies and burnt them for us, and guess what... they play with no problems.... Any help would be great...

Re: Will Not Play DVD Movies
What program are you trying to use to play these movies? Windows Media Player will play some, but not others - I highly recommend Nero, WinDVD, PowerDVD or similar programs.
Question - are you able to browse the contents of the DVD drive in My Computer? Even if the movie doesn't play, you can still see the files (there will be an AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folder, which a bunch of VOB files under the latter).
If you can see the files, but movies won't play, you just need the appropriate DVD playback software.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Are the DVDs movie DVDs or other software. If they are movies then you probably have to install a program to view them such as PowerDVD or the free VLC media player. If the computer cannot play original software DVDs then it could be a problem with your DVD players laser lens and has to be replaced with a new DVD drive or you can buy an external USB one. Hope this helps.
Try another DVD. If problem persists and it does not work with any type of DVD, whether recordeable burnt DVDs or original pressed DVDs then your unit is bad - either dirty lens or the laser diode is bad.
Sounds like your DVD drivers have been deleted or corrupt. Try reinstalling the drivers for the DVD. (If you have the cd with DVD software and drivers, this will be the best route.) Also, you can go to Dell support web page, enter your model information and download the drivers for your model, this should correct your problem. Good Luck.
Occasionally the software on most blu-ray players needs to be updated to the newest technology. The reason some discs play and some don't is because the discs that play are most-likely older movies or from a company that still used the "outdated" software. So the discs that don't play (most likely discs made with the updated software) won't play on your player until you've update the player's software. To do this visit, in your case, Sony's website for update info. There are a few ways you can get the info. You can download it directly to your player (if it has online accessibility) or you can request that they send you an update disc. Either way, most companies provide the update for free. Hope this helps, good luck!
It could be the codec u use to encode the movie,
secondly could be a firm ware problem of your dvd player.
Other than this I can't think of any other reason. or just may be the type of recoreder u use or the recoding programe. If u had check these, then get another player
Sorry, this is all I can think of.
PS. the player firmware is the main reason to me.
