Question about GE Refrigerators

Lately the freezer part of my fridge seems to develop frost where the water/cubes come out and I need to know what is causing this. I also need to know how to turn off the ice cube maker since I don't use cubes and I really don't need them.

Hi thanks for the question. the arm that's on the ice maker . put it to the up position. that will stop the ice Maker from getting water. the frost by the outlet for the ice to come out . thaw and clean . thanks the appliance doc

Look at the door on the ice cube chute. If there is a cube stuck in it holding it open, ice will form on interior surfaces of the freezer. The door flapper must close tightly.

To fix up a frosted up vents, I had a control board replaced for $180. Then 6 months later, the bottom freezer frost up AGAIN. rather than dumping more money to fix it, I was about to buy a new fridge, but had a crazy idea: I disconnected the water to the freezer, bought plastic trays for ice cubes for $3 at walmart. Fridge has worked like a charm for 6 months. no signs of frost. Saved $1000's.

My kenmore elite refrig keeps leaking water from what appears to be condensation. It gets so bad that the ice maker door freezes shut and water actually drips on the floor. The freezer is set to 0 while...
The high level of condensation is due to constant opening of the fridge when the frost develops. It is required to defrost off the condensation and if this has an auto mode timer for defrost , then it is possible that it is not working.
The water must drain out to the drain tank but since it is formed out of the freezer the water flows out of the collection tray.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. the fan in the freezer blows air through it. there is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control.

Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp. try to chec in the user guide.

Generaly the control board controls everything sometimes you have a bad thermister GE has a help line I beleive it costs 20.00 bucks but you will need a meter and know how to use it and they willl talk you thru the repair .

Water leaking from freezer into fridge
there are several things to check for. The condensing defrost tray under the fridge can crack or develop a hole and leak onto the floor. A door gasket not closing properly may cause sweating and leak onto the floor. Some fridge's have a humidity switch inside the fridge that should be turned on to prevent sweating on the center bar between the fridge and freezer section. If your fridge has developed a frost free failure problem, often the frost will travel down the suction line at the back of the fridge and drip water on the floor. The heat exchangertubing can separate and also sweat and drip on the floor. A kit to repair a separated heat exchanger line, comes with instructions as well. Ice maker and chilled water fill lines can crack and leak as well, this is fairly common with the plastic lines as they can dry out and crack.

GE Spacemaker JVM1339ww002 - looking for photo of plugs in control board plugs for reassembly or a wiring diagram? Disassembled without noting locations and now start & clear buttons do not work. I have a very old model GE spacemaker XL microwave, model# JVM1339ww002. I repaired the #1 key by cleaning contacts and reinserting the ribbon connector to the control panel. However, I did not photograph the connections. Some plugs have only 1 location where they fit. However, 2 pairs of plugs are the same size and I do not know the correct place to reinsert them. I took a guess & reassembled the microwave and it worked except for the start/clear buttons. If you press a number 2 shortcut for example, it will cook 2 minutes and the food is heated. However, start and clear do not work at all. These buttons DID work before I repaired the numbers. I contacted GE and they gave me a hard time about providing the wiring diagram which was removed or not inside my microwave. I am not sure if I reassembled the plugs wrong OR if I broke something else when I was repairing the numbers. Can anyone help me with the right locations for the 2 pairs of plugs listed below? And/Or tell me if it sounds like start & clear are a new problem or will be resolved by getting the plugs correct? These are the 2 sets of plugs that can be inserted in either location: 1) a pair of matching white plugs that snap in place along the bottom (1 has white wires only and the other has 1 white/1 black wire) 2) a pair of red and white plugs of equal size in the middle of the board. They are similar (but smaller) to plugs in wall outlet with 2 prongs. Similar to a wall outlet, you can rotate the plug 180 degrees and they still fit. In other words besides asking which plug is upper or lower, do I need to worry if the plug is upside down or this doesn't matter? The red plug has black wires, while the white plug has blue and white wires.
