Panasonic AE100U Keeps shutting off

My Unit keeps shutting off within a couple minutes of turning it on. In order to turn it on again i need to turn off the main power switch, turn it back on than press power on the remote. Lately i have to do this 2-3 times before it will stay on. It started long before i needed to change the bulb and continued after I replaced the bulb & Filter and reset the run time. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. It started a couple of weeks ago. My projector turns off after 2 minutes. After I turn off and then on the main switch I turn on the projector. The projector runs fine for hours then.

My unit started doing this EXACT thing just a few weeks ago. Did any of you update your nvidia drivers (8800 gtx)? That is the only thing I can think of, other than a broken projector.

runs for aminute or two then shuts off. Have to turn main power off then on to make it turn on again. No noticeable change in picture when it happens.

Sounds like a lubrication problem to me. Are any of the optical lenses lubricated. If so, sounds like a bad Grease Problem that should have never happened in the first place.

Panasonic should rectify this problem since it also occurred with my projector when the lamp was less than a 1000 hours. old.

I have exactly the same problem. I was told by Panasonic sales rep that a shipment of AE1000U projectors came in that have a faulty board (he thought optical board but wasn't sure). Only solution is to replace the faulty board.

I am not sure if this is the same problem, but my projector was suddenly powering off completely, no indicator lights at all, after about 10 or 15 minutes. It would not power on either with remote, on/off switch, or wall power. After much fooling around, I found that if a moderate amount of pressure was applied between the two control dials on the top, it would power on. With some strapping, a small piece of wood, and a tap and bolt, I was able to permanently apply the needed pressure and my projector works like new.
Not pretty, but I did not have to crack open the case or send the unit in for maintenance.

Keeps turning off

So, Shutting down to protect itself. The error light says it needs service, Cycling power makes it work for a few more minutes, then the Panasonic safety circuit shuts it down. Projector shuts down when bulb life gets to the danger zone, and also when its heat sensor says there is a problem.
So you have a bulb life issue or you have a dirty projector / fan cooling issue??

I say clean it up with some compressed air when it is cool, then check the # of hours the bulb has on it (in the menu).

Lastly brace yourself, the bulb is gonna hurt you :-$

Help me!!!!

Hello folks! I bought my unit on 11/2006. After 1532 lamp hours on eco-mode, my unit would start shutting off after just 2-3 minutes. Same problems you guys are having. Based on the comments I've received from the TECH guy where I purchased the unit, it appears that these units have IRIS problems. Here's how you can tell if its an IRIS problem...according to the TECH guy:

1. Get the unit powered up as usual.
2. Wait until its projecting enough light to see a menu on the screen.
3. Using the remote control, PRESS the "POWER" button again to see the power off confirmation screen, then PRESS the ARROW keys in the following order: RIGHT, UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, then PRESS ENTER.
4. The EXT OPTION menu should then be displayed.
5. SELECT the "SELF CHECK" option using the arrow keys.
6. Look for the word "IRIS. If that word or any word on that line appears in "RED" color, then the IRIS is faulty and needs to be replaced.
I just called Panasonic's Service dept. and they gave me a CASE NUMBER and asked me to FAX my original INVOICE to them. She told me they are going to review my claim and see if they can provide assistance or whatever. Apparently...Panasonic knows of this problem according to the TECH guy at the place where I bought my unit in late 2006. Good luck! Steve 717-891-2062
