Thanks for the inquiry. Print a configuration page from the menu to determine what Tray 2 is set to.Pull Tray 2 and make sure the rear paper stop is set to Letterhead. Make sure it snaps into place and is not broken or loose. If it's broken you may have to replace the tray. On your computer got to the printer driver icon and right click for properties. Make sure tray 2 is set to 8 1/2 x 11. Tray 2 should now be the default tray unless tray 1 (Manual Feed Tray) is open and then it will pull from it first. Let us know how this works. We need to eliminate these setup issues 1st and more steps can be taken if necessary. Thanks for contacting FixYa.
You have to print the first side then take those prints and put them back into the paper tray to print the second side (Manual Duplex). If this were a DN model it would have built in automatic duplexing and you cound select "duplex printing" from your print setup screen and the printer would print both sides automatically.
1. Inspect the paper trays to make sure they are not overloaded. To determine if this is the problem, do a test print with only one piece of paper loaded in the paper tray. (If this turns out to be the problem, keep the paper tray half-full in the future.) 2. Check that the type of paper being used falls within the printer manufacturer's recommendations. For example, paper designed for ink-jet printers doesn't necessarily work well in laser printers. High-quality, bonded paper will cause paper jams in some printers; look for bonded paper that is "laser and ink-jet compatible." 3. If someone has recently printed labels on this printer, check to see if a label has come unglued from a sheet and become stuck inside the printer. 4. Check the gears and rollers for stuck shreds of torn paper from previous jams. Turn off the printer before you attempt to remove the bits of paper.f you have a laser printer, inspect the printer's paper rollers. They should be smooth but not shiny. Rollers that are cracked or glazed are a frequent cause of paper jams and should be replaced by a technician. 5. if you have a laser printer, try cleaning the printer's paper rollers with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol (available atelectronics shops or drugstore.Try changing the toner or ink cartridge.
Pull the tray out and look to see if the flag is working ok or if the flag is worn out. The only thing you can do is replace the flag or replace the paper feed assy and the part number for that is RG5-0877
the manual tray is the is the one above the tray,
1-either your tray is set incorrectly must be set to Letter/Plain
priority is tray 2 not tray 1
tray one is the by-pass / manual
since this printer does not have a screen on it everything is setup through the PC.
print a configuration page and you will see all the settings
Before you print, check the printer settings and see if it is set to choose paper automatically. If it is try manually setting it to the tray 1 you mentioned. This may stop the printer from checking every time it is grabbing paper. Also try keeping the other tray slightly open which may automatically tell the printer to look right away at the other tray.
