Question about HP Pavilion zd7000 zx5000 zv5000 presario 3000,R3000 Series 120W Laptop AC Adapter-360699-001 CD-ROM Drive
First, make sure that the drivers are properly installed and that there is no "splats" or exclamation marks in device manager for your wifi device.
If the drivers are properly installed, you should have an extra "network" icon in your system tray (by your clock). If so, you should be able to right-click on it and view network connections. It will pull up a window where both your LAN (wired) and wifi connections are. If you see your wifi listed, right-click on it and you should be able to enable it, thereby activating your light and your wireless.
If you don't have any of the above ....you need to re-download the drivers for your wifi and reinstall. That should fix you up :)
Hope this helps - remember to rate :)

There is another option also. I have a HP zd7000 and the wireless button hase never been able to work. this is because the circuitry for the wireless is placed on a daughterboard within the chassis. my zd7000 does not have this daughterboard so the wireless button is actually useless (thats what you get for buying second hand lol)
if you have to check this, it will require technical knoweledge (if you are not sure about taking a laptop apart I would strongly suggest you don't as you may do more harm than good)
so the question is... has the wireless button worked in the past/does wireless hardware show in device manager?
answer yes = reinstall drivers, if this doesn't work and you have the skills check the daughterboard is secure and not loose.
answer no again if you have the skills check that the daughterboars is a) THERE, and b) not loose before installing drivers.
in the evnt that there is no daughterboard, you can do what I did (get a PCMCIA wireless card) it doesn't make the wifi button work, but it does give me internet

Tips for a great answer:
Push this button to activate or deactivate the Wireless LAN. When you activate the wireless LAN function, it will search for a wireless LAN signal automatically (assuming you have the wireless LAN driver installed). Just below the screen on the right side is the Status LED Panel, which show six icons, each with its own LED. The first one on the left indicates Wireless LAN status. When the LED is displaying a green light, it indicates that the system is accessing data from, or retrieving data by wireless LAN. So whenever you press the Easy button, you should see the green status light come on or go off. To repeat, if the light is not on, you need to press the Wireless LAN 'Easy Button'. NOTE! If you can't get the button to come on, you will need to re-install the Wireless LAN driver.
