Question about Samsung BlackJack II Smartphone

Help -Blackjack II won't sync

All of a sudden,my BJII won't sycn. My OS is Vista Home Premium SP1. The computer "dings" like it recognizes that a device has connected, WMDC does not open automatically. When I open it manually, banner comes up but does not fully start.

Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling WMDC, deleting USB ports, setting up a new user, (all suggested by MS) still can get the phone to sync. One tech walked me through changing the settings on the phone in ActiveSync - that lost all my contacts and still can't sync.

Uninstall the BlackJack II driver and make sure that the phone is disconnected from the computer.

You must FIRST install the disc that came with the phone (WMDC does NOT have the drivers for BJ II) and then RESTART the computer BEFORE you connect the BlackJack II.

If the steps above fails, get your computer's system / install / restore (whatever is labeled on it) disc and re-install VISTA.

Search the web for Blackjack II with Vista and it'll give you a gamut of issues from other customers.

Please take a look at this link:
http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=samsung&thread.id=60081

You could also try restarting the PC in Safe Mode with Network Connections and thereafter it should sync automatically.

Found the following suggestion on a different forum as well. Could be worth a try:
***IF YOU'RE RUNNING VISTA ON AN INTEL MOTHERBOARD, YOU HAVE TO DISABLE "QuickResume Technology" IN THE BIOS!!***
ApparentlyIntel's VIIV QuickResume technology is not compatible with Vista, soeven if you've successfully installed the VIIV package AND thequickresume driver set, the setting in the BIOS can cause obscurehardware problems when enabled -- one of which is not recognizingmobile USB devices. The setting can be found in the Power sub-menu ofIntel's BIOS setup.

Hope that helps!

Try to disable startup items. Click start. In the 'start search' box, type in msconfig. go to the startup tab and disable all items except those for you antivirus. Click apply, close and restart.

Then try it again afterwards. Are there other usb devices connected to the computer that work fine?

If that doesn't work, try reinstalling WMDC. This time, install it by right-clicking the setup file (which you can find by exploring the cd) and clicking on 'Run as administrator'.

You have to get buy a retail version of windows xp, format your hard drive and reinstall it from scratch. Have you tried reinstalling the software by running it as administrator?

Try downloading this and run a scan on the computer. This is least likely a virus/spyware infection issue but you can run the scan to doublecheck.

Try doing the same thing with same settings on windows xp and it will work.many of the clients using windows vista OS are facing the same problem.some kind of software upgradation is required in the BJII to make it work.or the compitable software upgradation cd from vista dealer should be loaded on your pc to support.but try the same thing on windows xp and nothing will be required just enter the proper settings.it will work.

What you can do here is try to do a system restore on the time that everything is working fine between the computer and the BJII so they are working fine after you just installed some update and other programs...

Hope that helps........

OK, if that's the case better isolation process here to check which one is really the problem here is to try syching this BJII using another computer , because if this BJII will be synch fine on a different computer we are now sure that the latest updates and changes on your vista computer is the one that is causing the problem, but if the BJII still wont synch using a different computer you may need to flash the software of this unit...

Try disabling our firewall and/or your antivirus and antispyware software. Sometimes, they block changes to the registry and system files that the phone needs to use. Make sure you disconnect your computer from the internet before you do though, so you don't get a worm or virus!
Have you changed any hardware or software since this problem started occurring?
What cellular carrier are you using?

If you have any Symantec internet protection software, disable that. It may be causing this to happen.

  • Kevin Croissant Oct 06, 2008

You can do this to make sure it is disabled:
    1. Disconnect your device
    2. Select ‘Start…Run…Services.msc”
    3. From the list of services, stop Symantec & windows firewall
    4. Try reconnecting device and establishing a partnership.

  • Kevin Croissant Oct 06, 2008

Yeah, we are getting somewhere indeed. Try removing itunes, but backup your music to a cd or elsewhere first. If you loose your music, Apple will not refund you at all. Period. Another thing you could try is DownGrade. meaning that you go from itunes 8 to the previous version when it worked.
You could also try using System Restore.

  • Kevin Croissant Oct 06, 2008

Have you ever used system restore? Its worth a shot.

  • Kevin Croissant Oct 06, 2008

System restore(not a full restore, just a rollback) will turn back to clock to the time when the phone did work, and you should be able to use the sync again, without loosing anything. I highly suggest trying it.

  • Kevin Croissant Oct 06, 2008

Hmmm...How long after you installed SP1 did you problem occur? That may be worth a shot[removing SP1 that is].

  • Kevin Croissant Oct 06, 2008

Here is a guide from microsoft's site for removal:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948537

  • Kevin Croissant Oct 06, 2008

Try resetting the phone. I just thought of that. Maybe its not the computer after all...

  • Kevin Croissant Oct 06, 2008

Its harder than you want. You
ll have to upgrade to vista bussiness, and then downgrade to xp SP1,2,or 3

The USB switches off ActiveSync to Mass Storage or Modem. Go to: Settings > Connections > USB > ...and make sure the setting in the selection window is set at ActiveSync.

i had a similar issue, after about 2 weeks the computer stopped syncing with the phone. So, I went to the device manager to see if the device was even listed under the Network Adapters. It was there: Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter, so I deleted it, rebooted the PC, connected the USB and I finally got this installing device (granted I got that message before but this time it said: Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter was successfully installed, before it said 'unidentified device' installed although it showed the name clearly in the Network Adapters as MWMRA) then before I could click on the Windows Mobile device Center it said, SYNC IN PROGRESS. Opened the WMDC and it was syncing. FINALLY!! I was so elated after all this time all I needed to do was deleted it from the Network Adapter reboot (and maybe the uninstall/reinstalled helped) connect the USB and badabing badabong!! I hope it works for you. Good Luck. Oh and I didn't have to disable my firewall or make any other changes.

Soo....try checking your network adapter section of the device manager, uninstalling the driver there and restarting the computer..

You may need to check to see which "service pack" you are currently on.

See below requirements:

System Software — Windows XP & Vista
  • Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition
    • 32-bit OS Installation Only
  • Windows XP Professional or Home Edition
    • With Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3

  • Not Supported:
    • Windows Vista 64-bit (any version)
    • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
    • Windows XP Media Center Edition
    • Windows 98, Me, 2000, NT, 95, 3.1, DOS

  • Not Tested:
    • Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition
    • Although Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition have not been tested or qualified by Digidesign, there are currently no known issues with Vista Home and Home Premium 32-bit operating systems and Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 compared to the supported Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition operating systems.

Windows Vista SP1
There are currently no known issues with Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista based on our initial limited testing and customer feedback. Although full qualification with all Digidesign products has not been completed, we do not recommend against updating to SP1, given the number of important overall system fixes in SP1. We do recommend that you backup your system and create a restore point before updating to SP1, should you encounter any problems after installing the update.

Error states Spy Sweeper is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems.

This from the Webroot Web site on supported operating systems:

Windows Vista® (32-bit versions of Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate), Vista SP1 (32- and 64 bit versions of (Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate).

So, assuming you have bought the latest Spysweeper (and assuming you have Vista 64 bit) , then you need to upgrade your Vista to SP1.

There is a VERY good chance that your USB HSPA Modem is not compatible/complient with Microsoft Vista. There are very few older parts on the market that are compatible.

You can also go to the manufacture web site of the HSPS modem and see if there are any Vista Drivers. If not, then you are out of luck.
