Question about Toshiba 61H70 61" Rear Projection Television
I have a Toshiba 61h70 TheaterView HD Projection TV, and was recently having some slight convergence issues (red was out of alignment and could not be adjusted). So I researched and found that the IC’s (STK392-110) needed to be replaced. I initially purchased them on eBay, to later find out that they were cheap clones and did not work (they made the convergence worse, actually). I then purchased 100% Sanyo IC’s from a reputable dealer and replaced the IC’s again. Once finished, I then entered the service menu and adjusted the convergence alignment. Once the alignment was perfect, I hooked back up the TV antenna, the DVD player (composite), and the S-video from my computer. The convergence is fine, but now I’m having a totally different issue – the video is “scrolling”. The menus will show up fine, however any incoming video inputs will show up okay for a split-second, but will then flash and the picture starts to scroll in different directions. This happens with any of the video inputs. I checked and changed all the service menu items to factory defaults, however this had no effect. I have pasted a link below to a short video that illustrates the issue that I’m having. Please note that the video starts off with a black screen, showing the “input” menu, and then I selected the ‘TV input’ and changed the channels. You will see the picture fine for a moment when the channel is first changed, but then the picture will start to scroll. Any ideas of what would be causing this? And how can I correct the issue? I’m not a TV repair expert, so I’m not even sure where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If you are removing a defective chip, can you just cut the pins carefully with a wire cutter and later apply heat to pull them off?

It is true that you should use a higher power I.C., I do that all the time. However, the one to use is the STK392-120. This one is rated at 5 Amps unlike the STK392-110, 150, which are both rated at 3 Amps. I have not checked the data sheet on the 180. They are all OEM, since Sanyo designed them all. Beware of generic knockoffs not made by Sanyo. The generic I.C.s do not have the quality as the Sanyo originals.

try not to mix areas in the tv chasing several problems.
if the tv has not white noise the screens are without convergence. you are digging in a set with maybe 5 problems the three you told me plus the other posibilities im gessing and i hope you don't have. So slow down with the repair and try step by step. bye now.

I bet it's a DLP TV correct?
This symptom would indicate that the color wheel has flown apart. Which results in a monochrome only image.
Color wheels are expensive and need to be replaced by a qualified service person.
