Problem with LG MP3 & Digital Media Players
Many problems in using the FM37 media player. I wish I had bought the next Philips up from the 2GB model I have.
At least they 100% know how to develop decent software, even a child could use.
Using any free video converter on the Net to convert video, say from FLV to WMV, you mere drag that from any folder, into their media centre (even in multiples)and click on a button to convert. And that's all. It resizes the file, synchronises it and sends to the device 100% of the time.
First problem is the device doesn't want to change to change to the new firmware version 2.20EN.
When turned on it says, "Update Yes" and something about record. Pressing on "Yes" does nothing.
It also delivers another message "Not Matched VIS file size" Perhaps that is the reason some single song music videos run out of video puff before reaching the end.
Unlike the Philips, the video is not synchronised with the audio, despite Windows Media suggesting it will synchronise the file.
Why does the "Converter" have a grayed out area, not allowing any other conversion type than AVI? My files are already WMV.
And why does it suggest 3 different FM37 types? Low Medium & High.
The device is very nice, but LG simply can't design understandable or workable software.
I suggest that the Korean designers should buy a Philips "Go Gear" MP3 player and take a look at the simplest, work every time software a child could use.
Really, I am tempted to write this FM37 player off as a mistake.
At this stage I could not recommend the device to anyone. The Samsung also from the Net seemed to suggest dodgy software.
Thanks!

I did solve the problems with the LG FM37 media player.
After the download of the LG FM37 firmware to the latest version 2.20EN, the device kept mentioning "download & press record". As nearly every function is controlled by touching the screen, I pressed where it said "record" in the message. Of course to no avail.
Then I though perhaps it is suggesting the voice record button on the side of the device, and when pressed the device did it's thing and transformed to version 2.20.
When I turned the device on, all the files had become question marks, and nothing functioned. In fact I could not turn it off.
So, pricking the reset/microphone hole with a needle, I decided the best thing to do was to format the thing from the settings selections.
Prior to the re-format, the device kept mentioning "error code 9001". That disappeared once the device was re-formatted.
And that did the trick, once the re-format was done, there were no files, for sure, - but the first video a Donald Duck cartoon from Youtube was successfully downloaded.
Previously I had been using a free on line video converter to convert the Youtube FLV to AVI - which is what the FM37 converter changes files to, then I would run that through the FM37 LG converter to size for the device.
But it seems happier to have the FLV converted to WMV. I use the free "Any Video Converter", then to run that through the LG media converter, which it transforms to AVI.
Since the re-format of the device and the conversion thing, the videos have all neen synchronised normally.
I haven't solved the "Library" issue on the LG Media Converter, which still thinks there are a lot of files in the Library, which are no longer on the device. There is no delete facility, - crazy.
But Windows media does allow you remove files from the device, but if set to automatic synchro, Media Player annoyingly reinstalles them in the device. Change Windows Media player to manual operation, to stop that.
I don't know what changes firmware version 2.20EN made, but one useful thing is a "trash bin" icon at the top of file contents (videos in this instance). You can click on the file you wish to delete, then the trash can to delete it there and then. Useful for files you downloaded to the device without converting, for instance. However, it seems the LG Media Centre *will allow only an AVI file through (without further processing), but if not converted, the device itself will just show an error message and play the next video.
The Philip's "Go Gear" Media Centre would *not allow you to download incorrect files.
I like the way the LG plays all the video files one after the other, without intervention, as does the Philips (which can also repeat). That is the main reason I didn't buy Creative Zen, as one always has to return to the menu to selct the next video.

I'm glad you solved it yourself. It would be helpful to post the solution to help anyone else with the problem.
