I get a color picture when i hook up the WII(FRONT) but not when i hook it up to a converter box(in the back) to watch basic TV. Is there another type of connection i need. Unfortunately i don't have...

What color jacks are you connecting your box to. Sounds like you are connecting 3 wire video or component connection incorrectly. Green,Blue,Red wires require same on both ends. If not correctly connected you will get the picture you are describing. The yellow wire composite video requires only one wire. I see this all the time . Some one has connected the yellow wire out the the green component in.The componet video takes 3 wires for video and 2 for sound five all together. the composite video yellow wire takes 1 video and 2 audio wires. Can't mix them together they are different. Hope this helps you.

yes..that would make sense..the cable is getting dried out, and has less conductivity when it's hot or warm..that's not unusual

No picture - only sound

Ok, on a hi-def tv, you must have a converter box capable of receiving Hi-def. If you are using a converter box from a satalite or cable tv service, try getting a Hi-def box. Also try hooking a vcr or dvd player to the tv in the non high def ports to varify that this is the problem. If you have any question please let me know, I hope this helps, good luck.

make sure all componet cables are in the right color coded spots on the back or side of the tv and you are on the right componet if using a cable box make sure using componet / monster cables not all cable companies support hdmi if that is how you are trying to hook up make sure to check with them

Hi-Def?

Yes, it is HD TV ready but you must have a set top box from your cable or dish company that provides a Hi Def signal. The inputs must also be connected with the YRB cable. Only certain channels on my box are HD. The screen is so large that HD isn't nearly as impressive as some of the smaller models but it is still HD. I also have the 53FDX10B.

Picture format

The HD reciever shouldn't be the problem.

If you recieve an image with a 4:3 aspect ratio, the image will be displayed at that ratio on your HDTV unless you specify otherwise. To do so go to your TV's Setup screen

setup
Choose picture formats
select smooth wide as your default

***Some digital (ATSC format) stations may transmit 4:3 images in a way that will not allow expansion. You will be unable to adjust the picture format.

Hope this helps!!!

You probably do not have a high def signal.  If you do have a high def signal you need to use either component input or HDMI input to get high def.  I f you are using RF input you picture would improve marginally if you swithced to a video input.

TV projects a pink/green shadow

Logically proceed one source at a time = disconnect all,
then hook-up one at a time or hook-up seperately.FYI, the
RF coax , composite and s-video inputs all share the same
circuitry, whereas component is a whole seperate video
processing circuit, with another difference between 480P and
1080 I . Sounds like you have a 1080 I problem, which might
be a little sister board..............................T.

Let me know..............Thanks.

Blue Ray Compatible? I have had my Hitachi 53SWX01W set for maybe 7 years or so. It is HD ready. My DVD player that I had hooked up to Component jacks #1 crapped out recently and I was using a portable DVD player in the front jacks. Everything always played perfect. I bought a Sony Blue Ray player and a Samsung HD Tuner over Thanksgiving and installed them. HD Tuner on component jacks #1 and the Blue Ray on CJ #2. Both with sound through fiber optic. The tuner was a snap and the picture is great. The Blue Ray was also a snap and Blue Ray disc's play great. My problem is DVD's! When playing a Standard DVD the picture will blank out radomly for 1/2 to 3 secounds and it may do it once or twice per disc or it may happen randomly throughout the disc. Sometimes it will not happen at all and the next day playing the same disc the picture will start blinking out again. There is no interuption in the sound or place in the movie, just a loss of picture! I have traded component jacks between the tuner and Blue Ray, I have change Component cables from very expensive to very cheap and back with no noticable difference. I exchanged the Sony BDP-350 Blue Ray player for another player with no success. I still have the same problems. When veiwing Blue Ray disc's The TV will display 1080i resolution with no problems at all. When playing standard DVD's the TV displays 480p resolution and the blinking problem happens. The Blue Ray player dosen't ramp up the picture quality on DVD's as I thought it would but that could be because I'm not using an HMDI cable which my TV does not have. Please HELP!!! Jim
