2005 triumph Rocket III will not charge battery. Replaced Battery, Rectifier, and after a 1 hour ride, the battery is so low it won't start again and i have to charge the battery with a charger

I put a meter on the battery before i start it and it shows around 12.98 volts and after i start it it goes down to about 12.4 volts but when i rev it it goes up to around 12.65 volts. After riding it about 60 miles i got back and checked the battery voltage while it was still running and the voltage was aroung 10V. when i reved the engine the voltage went down. What else could I check to see what is causing my battery to go down. As it is now i can only take it on short trips and recharge battery over night after a few days of driving to work etc.

No Kidding? I thought the regulator was integrated in the rectifier. Is this not the case, if not where is the regulator and how can i check it

It is most likely a faulty part. There have been rectifier/regulator problems on some production runs of other Triumph models, apparently related to a particular vendor from whom the factory buys them. Triumph have taken to mounting the assemblies in cooler locations on some models, but the fundamental problem appears to be that certain batches are overly heat sensitive and/or are underrated for voltage transients.

Sounds like the regulator is acting up and not always charging while you are riding

Triumph Rocket 3 has stalled. No power to headlights. Do have power to horn and turn indicators. All fuses are ok. Have checked and charged battery. With ignition key in on position there is still no power...

Well if nothing is working I would think it was the ground wire from the battery to the body. Because the horn and lights don't need the ignition switch on to work. Remember when jump starting a car you always hook the ground cable of the dead battery to the body of the car and not the negative side of the battery. Because if the ground wire isnt correctly connected from your body car frame to the battery it could blow up in your face. So remember that if your trying to jump start the car.My guess without looking at it is ground related... Hope this helps

Triumph Trophy 1200.... The battery is drained of power, so much that while I am riding it at hwy speed the bike shuts down. I have a trickle charger on the battery making sure it is fully charged before...

You have a pretty heavy drain on your battery. Find the fuse box. Remove all the fuses. With volt/ohm meter, read each fuse socket to find which one is drawing the power - when you find it ... investigate the circuit to find the short.

It may be that you are not making power ... your rectifier may be shorted which not only prohibits charging ... in some circumstances, it will actually cause a short to ground.
