Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

1 Answer

Cyclic reboot My 8500 makes it through the POST tests fine, says the tests are complete. Next it says it is Initializing.... but this stays for a couple of seconds then power goes off and reboot starts again. I never hear any motors turning during this process; only the fans turn own to cool the power supply.

Hi,

When the machine is powered on just check if it is warm under the top flap! If not the lamp is broken if it is warm you need to clean the temp sensor under the top flap. Either way the problem is because the machine is not reaching the right temp to operate properly! You will need an engineer to replace either the lamp or sensor, so call Xerox customer care or the shop were you bought it! Do you still have a warranty?

When i turn on my printer it says (system initializing) why

"System Initializing" means the printer is going through it's startup process. If it hangs, it usually means something is wrong with the printer.
Make sure all printer cartridges are seated properly and securely. Make sure the paper trays are pressed all the way in and locked into place, make sure all doors on the printer are closed and latched properly.
Unplug the printer from power completely and wait about 30 seconds. Plug the printer back in and power it on without being connected to a computer or network cable (if applicable since you did not post make / model)
If the issue continues, the printer may be faulty and need serviced or replaced.

XEROX Phaser 8560MFP won't go past "initializing?"

Disconnect the data cable between the Electronics Module and the Printhead to see if Power On Self Test (POST) gets further, to the point where it displays a system failure code relating to the Printhead being disconnected. If so, replace defective printhead.

I've seen this with copiers in that a one second power failure and I need to reset it from the diagnostics menu. I have also seen this on printers as well. Here's the instructions for getting to the diags menu
Press and hold the red button (info button) and the “OK” button simultaneously. This should take you into the Service Tools menu.
2) When in the Service Tools menu, scroll down to the “Enter Diagnostics” menu. Select the “OK” button. It will go through some cycling at this time for about 2 minutes. The screen may go blank a few times too.
3) It then asks for a confirmation, select “ok” again. The printer will go through a minute of rebooting. The screen may go blank a few times too. You are waiting for the diagnostic menu with the Test #00 “no test selected”
4) 7) It will ask for a confirmation. Select “OK” to confirm.
8) Then hit the up arrow until you go over test 100 to test 01. “Exit diagnostics.”Select “OK”.
9) It will ask for a confirmation. Select “OK” to confirm.
10) At this time the printer will again reboot for several minutes & then should come up to a ready to print.

That has to do with the process drive gear box. May be mis timed or a gear broken.
