Blocking signal to unwanted computers

I do not want anyone hijacking my internet signal. How can I block others out while still using all the computers in my home?

I assume what you mean is "How do I stop someone connecting to my Wireless network"

There are a number of things you can do. The 2 easiest are....

1, Disable WEP and enable WPA. Use a really long complicated key. Here is a link to a good password creator https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm

2, Enable Access control via MAC address. Set it so that only authorized MAC addresses can connect. This is a pain to administer, but will prevent people inadvertently connecting. It is possible to spoof MAC address's, but if someone is so interested in getting on your network that they would take the time to do so then you have bigger problems to worry about.

These two (mainly the 1st one) should keep you secure enough.

You could also turn off DHCP and manually assign addresses, But this is not worth doing unless you are going to monitor for "illegal" connections.

Alternatively you could just hardwire all the PC's in the house :)

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!
