Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

You might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd computer then plug them back in restart your this should activate the found new hardware wizard.

If this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

"you only need to do the following"

if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer

Click on Start, Run, and typeregedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Reboot your computerOpen My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned.
You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

if this fails to fix the problem It could be a problem with the lens you could use a liquid type lens cleaner place 2-3 drops on top of a cd/dvd then run it

Acer L100 dvd drive is not sencing any dvd or cd. so I can not write any thing

Go to Device Manager and see if your DVD is listed among all your computer's hardware and peripherals.
(type "device manager" in your COMPUTER search area if you don't know how to get there)
If it IS NOT listed-power problem or defective
If it IS listed, right click it, select PROPERTIES
(Yellow triangle indicates error)
First tab GENERAL shows if it is working properly.
Then click on DRIVER tab to see if you just need to update the driver, or roll back to a previous driver.

Hope this helps.

Computer freezes up

Hi,

In case your system freezes at system startup, it usually implies that there are way too many programs loading at startup. Therefore, to fix these errors, you will have to stop unnecessary programs from loading during the startup process. To do this, first check the Start > All Programs > Startup folder. If you see any unwanted programs listed here, right-click and select Delete, to remove them. Next, open the System Configuration utility by running “msconfig” from Start > Run. On the Startup tab, clear the checkboxes of the programs that you do not want to load during system startup. Select Apply and click OK to implement the changes and restart your PC.
Computer freezes due to hardware, generally occur when different hardware devices
The problems may also occur if the device driver of a particular device is erroneous. You can resolve these errors with the help of the Device Manager (Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager.) In Device Manager, locate the faulty device—depicted with a yellow triangle containing a yellow exclamation mark, right-click on it, and select properties. Here, on the Resources tab, you can manually modify the resource allocation of the conflicting device

Thanks,

Can't reboot Compaq/Presario desktop, (power supply is working)

If the system recovery disk doesn't work it usually mans that the hard drive is bad. I would change the hard drive and use the system recovery disk on it after replacement.

Code 39 on DVD Philips SDVD8821

Hi,

The issue you have posted does require more information to troubleshoot and fix it, information like what type Version of windows you are using and does the drive in the device manager has a YELLOW ! Mark, is the drive is visible in on the device manager page under DVD/CD ROM drives option, however I am suggesting you few steps with the best of my expertise according to the information I could gather reading post which usually fix these kind of issues please follow the instructions below.
1. Click the Start button, click Run.
2. In the RUN box, type Regedit, and then click OK.
3. Click the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
4. Click the plus sign (+) next to SYSTEM.
5. Click the plus sign (+) next to CurrentControlSet.
6. Click the plus sign (+) next to Control.
7. Click the plus sign (+) next to Class.
8. Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
9. On the right side of the window, click UpperFilters. Click Edit on the menu bar.
10. Click Delete, and then click OK.
11. On the right side of the window, click LowerFilters.
12. Click Edit on the menu bar.
13.Click Delete, and then click OK.
14.Click File, and then click Exit.
15. Restart the computer normally.
NOTE: When you click the plus sign (+) next to a folder, it will expand displaying the folders it contains in the left-hand pane of the Registry Editor. When a folder is highlighted, its contents will be displayed in the right-hand pane of the Registry Editor.
In some machines any one of the filters like Lower or Upper filters options will be missing so do not worry if you are not able to find any one of the filters, just delete the one which is found and continue with the other suggested options.
After completing the above mentioned steps restart your computer.
Once the system is back to the desktop screen, please perform the steps mentioned below.
1. Click on start and right click on my computer then left click on properties.
2. Click on hardware on the top right hand corner and then click on device manager.
3. Click on the + sign next to DVD/CD ROM drives option.
4. Right click on the DVD drive option and left click on uninstall.
6. Click on the ‘Action’ and click on ‘ Scan for hardware changes ’ option
5. Close all the windows on the screen.
NOTE: You might need to reinstall any CD recording application or the DVD player Application if you have on your system if they start to not work completely, after doing this.
