I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A LT 456s MONITOR AND AM TRYING TO HOOK UP TO A GATEWAY COMPUTOR WITH WINDOWS XP- WHEN I TURN IT ON THE GATEWAY WINDOW SHOWS UP AND THE THE WINDOWS XP AFTER THAT IT IS BLANK UNTIL A NO...

I think you are experiencing something that happens a lot when you change monitors, possibly 'downsizing'? Your graphics settings on your actual PC were set too high for the new, smaller flat-screen, so what you'll have to do is hook it back up to another monitor, even an older CRT-style one, and then do the following steps before hooking it back up to your new 14" LCD:
  1. boot into Windows as usual, but on an older, perhaps larger monitor
  2. right-click on any empty area on your desktop, then left-click on 'Properties' at the bottom of the little pull-down menu that pops up
  3. when 'Display Properties' window comes up, click on the very last tab to the right, labelled ''Settings'
  4. find the 'Screen Resolution' slider bar about two-thirds the way down that window, and adjust the slider control to a more standardized, universal setting, like '800x600', or even '1024x786'. Either of those should work with your new LCD flatscreen.
  5. make sure you click 'OK' on that window, then 'Shut Down' Windows properly (using the Start button, and all that)
  6. disconnect your old monitor, and hook your new one back up. It should work!
This happens a lot. I build HTPCs, so it's even worse the more 'options' you have, believe me.
Hope this helps!

I am having problems with my display adapter, I have a dell tower, and I'm running windows xp. how can I find the right software for this Gateway monitor?

Go to start, control panel, device manager, display adapter, right click and update the drivers. If that doesn't do the trick, Google for the display adapter on line and download the new one....

Whant to know how to partition

Windows XP provides partitioning functions within the administrator tools, Disk Management. Windows 98 SE provides a program called FDISK. You boot your computer with the win98 cd in the cd-rom, and select start computer with cd support. At the prompt, type in FDISK.

Otherwise you need a disk paritioning software like partition magic

Samsung monitor performance

Just spoke with ya in chat... ya left a little too soon :-)

You should be able to upgrade that processor to around 1ghz (1000mhz). That will double your cpu speed.

And shop around online for some PC-133 SDRAM for your model of pc. Get that thing up to at least 512mb of system memory and you will probably be alot happier with it's performance! If all you generally do is email and surf the net, no need to drop the bucks on a new machine if your looking for just a little more speed. Unless your wanting something newer anyway, then go for it. But you should be able to upgrade that one yourself for easily under $100 if you shop the parts online.
