Here is a diagram from kenmore corp. that should help you out Maytag Dryer Belt Routing
This is the most common belt routing found on most Maytag brands clothes dryers.
you will have everything disassembled to change the belt, this is an
excellent opportunity to vacuum out the cabinet to remove dust and lint
and perform preventative maintenance on your dryer. When replacing the
Belt is is a good idea to also change the Drum Support Rollers, Drum
Glides, Idler Pulley and Clips. All of these items are easily
changeable when replacing the belt. The upside is that your dryer will
operate like new.
sounds like a broken belt.remove two screws at lint filter .pry top up at front and lid should lift and hinge back.should see belt or mark on center of drum.remove two screws holding front panel from inside cabinet.lift the front panel off two clips on front of unit belt probably laying in bottom.change idler pulley too.hope this helps please rate my solution:)
Hi, To replace this belt, UNPLUG the dryer. Remover the screws under the lint screen. Insert a flat blade screw driver in the gap between the top panel and the front panel and pry up the top panel.
Now locate the screw inside the front panel in the upper corners. Remove them and the front will lift up and release.
Now you will be able to change the belt. Follow the instrutions included in the belt packadge to thread the belt throught the idler pulley.
You can get the belt from my web site @ www.whirlpoolpartssurplus.com if you would like.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Hello Friend, Replacing a dryer belt is very simple. Just remove front of dryer cabinet. unplug wires from dryer door switch. Just slide a new belt over the drum with the belt grooves facing to the inside. Underneath drum you will see a tention wheel next to motor. Install belt around tention wheel and around motor shaft pully. Re-install front dryer cabinet. Make sure to plug in the wires to the door switch and make sure that the drum is re-inserted back over the felt glide on inner cabinet front. Happy to help, Tim.
You will have to unplug the dryer and remove the front panel with the door, mark and remove the wires to the door switch, then there should be two screws on the inside which you will need to remove then tilt the panel out and lift to disengage the tabs connecting it to the main cabinet. Then you should be able to remove the old belt, carefully lift the drum and slide the new belt under it. Then this is where you will need to be a contortionist and take care as there are many sharp edges under there. Locate the motor and tensioner pulley, place the belt around the tensioner and while pushing back against the spring on the tensioner hook the belt to the motor pulley, then move belt on drum so it is aligned with lower pulleys. Turn the drum by hand a couple of times to make sure everything works.
don't know what make you have but if you go to sears .com click on parts put in your model number(inside dryer door)you will find a break down of everything you need to know, let me know how you do-mike
reinstall back.. remove 2 screws under lint screen press 2 clips on front corners with putty knife lift top remove screw on each side top inside front lift front off belt goes over drum ..double it and pass through idler support arm then onto motor pulley ..belt pack may have a diagram
If the V belt is loose with the handle down, then maybe the idler wheel under neath the belt isn't contacting the belt, may be jammed down, just push on it to see if it moves up and down. Belts don't last very long, you may want to replace both of them.
