Question about Amana ARB9059CS Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

11 year old amana bottom freezer icemaker drips water when filling tray

1997 Amana bottom freezer refrig model BCE20TW icemaker is making ice, but when the tray fills, water drips into ice bucket melting all of the cubes together. Icemaker replaced 2001. Defrost terminator replaced 2004. I love this refrig, but it keeps having problems. I believe in fixing things not just buying new. Sears told me that refrigerators are not made to last past 10 years, but this one needed work after the first 4 years. Do I need to replace the icemaker again? I used to be able to access the parts schematic with part numbers on amana.com, but I guess they don't support this model anymore. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hello dunc444444
Welcome,
You said, Bottom freezer works fine, but upper refrigerator has no cold air

Is your freezer so full that it is packed to the top especially in the rear?
Refrigerators and freezers share the air from the compressor and travel through vents in the rear of the freezer and fridge.
Sometimes it can effect the cooling in the fridge if the freezer articles block the vents!

The water overfilling in the ice maker is an ice maker problem only.
When we install an ice maker there is a short white plastic tube that we push through the rear
hole of the fridge which supply's the water to the maker, the outside water line attaches to this.
That tube we push through the fridge must go in till it stops. And empties in to a little sistran at the rear of the ice maker. Make sure it did not sip out or backwards a little when you may have moved
rolled the fridge out to clean under it!

Also you need periodically to remove the front grill down in front of the fridge and gently run a refrigerator brush under the coils to clean out the dust that may block air flow over the coils.(the coils are metal black tubes that run back and forth along the bottom of your fridge.
The vacuum will not reach in to that tight space. That's why they make a special brush for this chore.
Let me know how you do?

Too much water in amana bottom freezer ice maker

Try closing the valve partially on the incoming water to the icemaker. Close it to a trickle. Water is fed to the icemaker by a short timer. Too much water pressure means too much water. If this helps it but not solve it, get the spec sheet for the icemaker and adjust to make cubes smaller. This shortens the timer. If no joy, you may need to replace icemaker module.

NO ICE IN MY BOTTOMFREEZER AMANA REFRIGERATOR

If we both are on the correct subject then it is possible the water control valve on back of refrigerator is not working. If ice tray is dry then fill with water from a cup and let freeze. If the ice maker dumps the ice let me know and we will go from there. Sea Breeze

Freezer not cool enough and the Icemaker not working

Defrost the fridge freezer for 24 hrs and before turning on check for any water leaks. Turn back on if the cabinet pulls down to temp in 12hrs you probably have a defrost heater problem if it doesnt pull down at all it could be the fan or sensor fault. Either way you would be best to contact a suitable refrig engineer. Hope this helps. fishersofcambridge

Amana ice make problem

there is a screw adjustment that accounts for the variations in water pressure among various installations. Without one, problems such as yours will be widespread. Pry open the plastic cover over the icemaker. Look for a screw that has markings and/or arrows near it. I believe that turning the screw counterclockwise will decrease the amount of water allowed in. Experiment with each turn direction as necessary. You should see the amount of water fill with a flashlight. A proper fill should be about 3/4 to 7/8 filled. Never fill 100%. The cube ejectors may break then.
