Fuzzy picture on my 42" akai lcd tv

For the past few weeks my tv is very fuzzy when turned on. After it warms up for awhile if you turn it off, then back on the picture clears enough to watch but is still fuzzy. The blue Akai screen that appears when you turn it on is perfectly clear and the picture is perfect when watching a DVD. The tv is not even 2 years old, but is out of warranty.

I was having a similar problem, but now my akai screen is bright pink. The tv shows are only coming in somewhat normal if I have the contarst up to 90, except that there is still pink in the sky. This makes it very difficult to watch any tv, because the picture is going from bad to worse.

Ya same thing here I turn the tv on after not being on for a long period of time and the picture if fine... about five minutes later the screen goes fuzzy, i have to leave the tv on for about 30 minutes and then shut it off and then turn it back on and then it still has little lines running through it ,except for on dvd mode, it seems fine

I have 2 TVs live in an RV trailer. The TV in the back works great. The TV in the front is fuzzy and no channel comes in. I have checked all in puts, plugs and turned it off and on.

It can be the T-CON board is over heated and goes out, it can also be the main board, you should try cooling the T-CON board when the picture gose out with electronic freeze spray for electronics troubleshooting to see if the picture will come back, need to narrow down the problem.

My akai dlp tv turns itself off then it flashes

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

Has fuzzy spots all the way across the screen and just scrolls up

Is the picture fuzzy whether you are waching tv or a dvd or a tape. If it's only fuzzy on tv or dvd or tape then it's the source. If all inputs are fuzzy suspect a bad tv.

If I tap the rca jacks in the back the screen gets distorted

You need a hdmi connector from your tv source to the TV. RCA connectors don't have the capability for HD signal transmission. You can use them for a connection but the picture will be fuzzy if trying to watch HD signal. Check your cable/dish box to see if there is a hdmi output. If so, buy a hdmi cable & that should solve your problems.

LG 42 LCD no sound or picture

Did anyone find out the solution for this??????? I have the exact same problem with my LG 32 LCD. I only had it for a year and a half, and the green light blinks a few times and it shows no picture. Not even a red light when the tv is off. The same thing happened a couple weeks ago and by some miracle it started working again.

TV turns itself off after turning on. TV screen goes black.

Based on what I have read AKAI has reoccurring problems with power supply and bad DVD sound. The problem you have is caused by the DVD player trying to start. Never leave a disk in when you shut it off or you will have the same symptom you are describing.
