Cant get pound sign to work or other symbols seem to be in wrong place
Since my laptop went in for keyborad repairs, a couple of keys kept sticking, the keyboard has been wrong. The computer was wiped clean when it was returned to me but the pound sign dosnt work and other symbols are in the wrong place. I have checked that all regional settings are set to UK but this has not made any difference. Can you help please?

I'm assuming that pound means £ (GBP) and not #...... Do you have the £ sign on the number 2 key? If you do and your just not getting the £ symbol when pressing Shift + 2 then you probably have the keyboard set to the wrong language.
In control panel look for Region and Language settings, in there should be keyboard languages. In that section make sure that you have the correct one selected for your keyboard.
On US keyboards the pound symbol is usually on the number 3 key (upper left area of board). Use a SHIFT modifier key in combination with the number 3 key and you should get what you're after.
CANT GET £ SIGN, AND " HAS SWAPPED WITH @ 1, HOLD THE SHIFT KEY DOWN 2, PRESS THE "WINDOWS LOGO" AND "ALT" BUTTONS TOGETHER ON THE LEFT HAND OF THE SPACE BAR ONLY.THE RIGHT HAND ONES WILL NOT WORK 3, YOU MAY HAVE TO USE THE MOUSE TO CLICK ON THE PAGE. 4, YOU WILL NOW HAVE THE "£" BACK & THE @ OR"IN THE CORRECT PLACE.
Please note that you have to type the 4-digit code on the numeric keypad (do not use the normal number keys) while holding down the Alt key.

I am unable to answer your problem that why you are not getting the required symbol if it is there (Hope that you are pressing the no. 3 with Shift key pressed).
But if you need a Pound sign you can get it by pressing 0163 key from the right side numeric keypad while pressing the alt key (i.e. alt+0163).
Remember that you cannot use the upper number key for this purpose.
