Thanks , the condenser is free from any significant dust , it is mounted on the rear of the fridge (it is an upright model ) by frost I mean its developed ice in the freezer (which is almost empty) also the compressor is quite hot and the overflow bowl is dry . I cant see any removable grill .

Hello Mr Barnard

Welcome to fixya

You said, You have a zanussi fridge freezer combination, it is a frost free model, And you're developing lots of frost in the freezer which never used to happen and the fridge is not getting cold, some condensation does appear inside the fridge, it is 2years old.

Frost could mean a few things.
Is the freezer cold but the fridge not?
If so the freezer may be so full that the articles are covering the air vents in the back that share the cold air with the fridge.
I've have seen the freezers packed to the hilt!

More things to check.
Is the condenser in the back or under the front of the fridge. If it is under the front of the fridge you must remove the plastic grill`(The condenser is the thin black metal tubing that runs back and forth to make up your condenser). This needs to be free of dust and have air passing over and through it!
they sell refrigerator brushes for this at the hardware store.
I have had customers that never ran the brush under there ever and had 1 to 2 inches of dust and lint
under there between the tubes. After a few hours it was cool the next day it was cold!

The freon level pressure should be checked in case you have a leak.
The thermostat may be bad.

Let me know what works for you.

The grill only applies if the condenser is under the fridge. Not in your situation.

If the compressor is to hot to touch that sounds like a bad cmpressor.

Sounds like a defrost component Dave Start by turning the defrost timer slowly clockwise until refrigerator stops running and then stop. Open freezer and look and feel. Is defrost beginning to melt the ice?

Zanussi frost free fridge freezer we have had two zanussi fridge free freezers in the past month that do not drain away the water from the fridge. The water builds up under the vegetable drawers and...

this is a common fault with them, when packing them some of the packaging blocks the pipe. if you use a net curtain thing that hold up the net curtain push it down the hole up and down a few times then look at the drain away at the bottom of the fridge take the bits out. should be fine then. it happen alot and to deferent makes and models.

Can i turn the freezer part of my fridge of so i can defrost the bottom part n leave the top part on , i have a zanussi electrolux

no your model is a single compressor which runs both frdge and freezer.. freezer is supposed to be frost free however freezing elements can be overwhelmed with frost if door has been left open. there is a drain hole behind the back panel of the freezer that can block or freeze up causing water to flow in tp the freezer and turn to ice. complete defrost and check that drain hole is clear to fix it.

LARGE WATER LEAK ON FLOOR

the reason is probably that the drain hole in the freezer (i assume this is a frost-free type) is blocked. take off the rear panel of the freezer and you will probably see a block of ice at the bottom. melt off with a hairdryer and free the drain with hot water making sure that water flows freely away
