Borrow other wireless adaptor, then plug it to your desktop. Try to connect ...but U must install the adaptor driver too. If it works, that means your internal adaptor is out of work.

Limited connectivity If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wireless connection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptop probably did not get an IP address from the wireless router. To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and then click Repair. This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless card on the laptop. Also try resetting the wireless router by turning off the power to the wireless router for a few minutes and the boot up your computers.
I need more information to assist you. Do you connect to the Internet using a LAN cacle to a modem and or router? Do you have a wireless router, what is the make and model.? Do you have an Internet service provider. What error messages do you get.
If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.
all you have to do is reset the modem, remove the power suppy for 15 seconds plug it back in and give it a minute to reset, then you should have internet connectivity.
go to control panel and network connections, right click on the lan connection but not the wireless one and select dissable as the router may still be assigning the wired adapter an ip address.
make sure in the wireless cards properties that obtain an ip address automatically on the TCP/IP line properties is selected.
Firstly dissable wep to get the connection and then when up and running then apply wep or wpa again but make sure that the security code is set correctly at either 'Open' or 'shared' in the router.
