Question about Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV
The TV turns off by itself. Sometimes within a few minutes of turning it on and it may do it several times in before it operates for the rest of the evening. The set doesn't have very many hours on it we use for a couple of hours in the evenings and not every day or to watch a movie on occasion.
First, need to check the power bar(if you use).
then. if don't use power bar, need to check the power board.

take off the lamp access door on the back and find the safety switch that the door pushes on. unplug the connector from the switch and put staple into the connector to short out the cable. Switch is probably bad. worked for me. same problem.

I bypassed the safety switch (it was bad) and vacuumed and blew out all of the dust. So far with this set, 3 years old, I have replaced the bulb twice,it exploded both times, and the color wheel which also exploded! We love the picture but the next time it goes out, it goes out to the trash and I will purchase a top of the line LED/LCD set. No moving parts!!! Samsung designed and manufactured a whole bunch of lemon sets and will not admit it. I have found several hundred complaints about their DLP sets and only a few on other brands.

Possibly a bad light tunnel assembly if the part is only a shadow effect. If not then probably a bad DMD board. The DMD board is part of the light engine but needs to be replaced by a technician.
