Hi there my parents have an oldish desktop PC and a Lexmark 2600 printer. The printer has installed fine and printed test pages, but will not print anything from Microsoft Works Word documents or any other...

There are a couple of things I think you can try.

First, make sure you have the right driver. You want to download an updated driver version than the one you have from Lexmark.com. Most manufacturers have their driver downloads on their support sites. You may want to try different versions of the drivers, but make sure they are appropriate for your version of Windows.

The other thing you can do...is try stopping and restarting your print spooler.
Go into your control panel in the administrative tools and search for services. From there locate the spooler service and open it up. click the stop button...and then click start again after it stops.
Good Luck

I have a MacIntosh computer and wanted to install NetGear WGPS606 54 Mbps Wireless Print Server w/4 Port Switch to serve a Canon Pixma MP830. The hangup is the IP address assigned to the printer. I had...

You can assign ip with 2 method 1 is manually and other is automatic .
If you set manualy ip you must need to set gateway as your printers and other computer's gateway.
Subnetmask is same in all system.
For example if your netgear lan ip is 192.168.1.1 then your printer ip 192.168.1.5 sunet mask as 255.255.255.0 and gateway is 192.168.1.1
Other computer's ip 192.168.1.6 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1
Make sure the printer driver installed and it is in network.
IF you want ip from netgear then you need to enable dhcp in it.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.1.1 or
http://192.168.0.1 or
http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Then click on dhcp then enable save settings and restart netgear.
Then in printer set ip get automatic from router.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I bought a used computer.i put a router box onto the internet line so that i can run two computers. the existing computer is working fine but the other one wont connect

First thing to do is to check the other ports on the router if you will have connection, second is to check if the other computer has its LAN card installed (this is where you plugged in the cable from the router to the back of computer. try also to check if the lights on the router port and at the back of your computer is blinking. After that go to the computer that is not connecting. On the desktop you can see my computer or just computer>right click on the computer icon then left click on propoerties> click on hardware tab> then click on device manager> try to look for network adapter and click on the plus sign on its side to expand it. Examine if the icons have any yellow question mark or exclamation point or an x mark on it.

If it does, The yellow question mark means that the drivers for the LAN card is not yet installed. The exclamation point means The driver is not correct or is corrupted. And the X mark is disabled.

For the first symptom, you need to install the driver for the LAN card using a cd that came with it, or try to check its brand and model name so you can just download it.
Second symptom, you need to uninstall its drivers then reinstall the correct and updated one. To uninstall you just need to right click on the sub network icons then uninstall. Reboot/Restart your pc, Install the correct one.
Third symptom, you just need to right click on it then left click on enable. If it happens that the lights are not lit on the router try using the other ports or changing the cables. If the LAN card is not litting up it means it is already defective

Install its driver. Or in printing que set the lexmark 2600 as the printer to be use. Then test print. Check its data cable.

Computer just quit reconizing my Canon Pixma IP 6600 Printer. Have tried new cable, reloading drivers, different USB Ports...Nothing seems to work

First impression is try to do an install on another computer.
uninstall unit from computer, delete completely all drivers and its printer software from computer. if VISTA OS make sure a VISTA driver is loaded for that unit.

if a fairly new unit, return too store, possible short.

Pover up trouble

sounds like something is drawing down on your 12 volt supply drives or on board regulators. Try it without the drives connectged, and see if you can get the system to boot up(you'll just get a notice that your drives are unavailable, but you'll already know that, right?

got backup for your Dell?
