When I plugged it in, say the device is not recognized. I followed the instructions exactly as directed. But one step, which shouldn't make a difference. I left it alone for almost 2 hrs...they say 3 min.

Magic Jack does not quite work as good as advertised. Sometimes it makes a difference which USB port you have it plugged in. I installed one a couple of years ago and I am trying to go by memory. With your computer running plug in the magicjack. The blue light should come on. I think I looked at "My Computer" and it shows up as taking two drives probably E: and F:. If I remember correctly, I opened them up and found a magicjack icon that I then dragged it down to my "Start" button. That way it tries to start magicjack on every startup of the computer. I takes a long time for magicjack to load when you start the computer. It also ties up all resources and you can't use you computer for anything else for about 3-5 minutes. I really don't understand why it takes so long, something they don't tell you on the commercials. I have an older computer, about 8 y,o. that I have mine plugged into. That is almost all I use this computer for, other than some bookkeeping and sort of a server for our house. The magicjack does not have quality sound, but somedays it works rather well. I mainly have it for a fax line. Hope some of this may help you.

Hi am trying to re register my magic jack and they said to me congratulation but when I tried to call they said sorry please need ur help

I have had Magicjacks for Many Years now and I even us a free cell phone service call Freedom Pop. I you don't have the newest Magic jack please purchase it and then transfer your phone number to the new one. If you have the new Magicjack you can plug it directly into your router instead of in to the computer.

I changed computers now magicjack will not come on

On a new computer, you have to reinstall the magicjack software.
When you plug the magicjack into a USB port for the first time, you should get a message about installing software.
Something like: "Install or run program from your media".
If you powering the Magicjack directly from the wall AC and are not using a USB port, be sure the ethernet and phone lines are both connected.

After 3 months my MagicJack stopped working. I have this same problem with 3 different MagicJack devices: after dialing a few numbers successfully, when I dial the next number I hear only 1 or 2 rings then...

Likewise I had the same problem, spent 3 days and on hold for 2 hours at a time, told the tech who was doing a live link into my computer suddenly went on break, then was gone for the day...their TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS A NIGHTMARE...and no, we still do not have a solution to our phone and went through alllllll the same gyrations!

Magicjack does not recognize my phone

"However the phone option is not available..." Are you sure? you can switch to headset or by phone anytime you want. Switching to either one of these devices you need to right click on your magicJack phone number in the software(located at the top left portion) and click on "switch to phone/telephone".
