Seems firewall is blocking the updates. or you have a pirated vista that wont update.

Sir pl tl me that whch antivirus is suitable for window 8

Windows 8 includes an automatically loaded updated version of Windows Defender
which is a full antivirus based on Microsoft Security Essentials.
(Windows Defender
for XP, Vista, and Windows 7 was only antispyware.)
So if you upgrade the protection
is automatic and is on by default at installation.

PLEASE I URGENTLY NEED HELP FOR MY ACER LAPTOP

Althought this is not a solution to fox yor current probl it may give you some relief. After owning and tinkering with 150 computers I can honestly say that I have never had a virus, and I go to all kinds of web pages including known virus containing websites and still nothing.

Do as I do don't run or install antivirus or anti malware or even run the windows defender or the windows firewall it's just not worth the hassles and the bulls**t.

I had Dell Windows XP along time ago. I now have Windows Vista Business and I think it is Service pack 1. I pressed F12 and did diagnosis then it scanned right off the bat it says... "Error Code...

Hi. Error 0146 is pertaining to a failing hard drive. You can still try to reinstall Windows Vista by requesting for a CD from Dell by contacting them.

If they fail to send you a CD or if the error still comes up after reinstalling Vista, then you need to replace your hard drive.

Automatic restart my laptop.Windows vista

Hi,

If you are able to boot the computer in safe mode, you can disable the Automatic Restart from the Control Panel.

Open Control Panel.

Click on the System and Maintenance link.

If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link.

Click on the System link.

In the task pane on the left, click the Advanced system settings link.

Locate the Start up and Recovery area and click on the Settings button.

In the Start up and Recovery window, locate and uncheck the check box next to Automatically restart.

Click OK in the Start up and Recovery window.

Click OK in the System Properties window.

You can now close the System window.

From now on, when a problem causes a BSOD or another major error that halts the system, the PC will not automatically reboot. Rebooting manually will be necessary.

If you're unable to fully start Windows Vista due to a Blue Screen of Death error, you won't be able to disable the automatic restart on system failure option as described in the steps above.

Try the steps below:

Just before the Windows Vista splash screen shown above appears, or just before your PC automatically restarts, press the F8 key to enter Advanced Boot Options.

You should now see the Advanced Boot Options screen.

Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, highlight Disable automatic restart on system failure and press the Enter key.

After disabling the automatic restart on system failure option, Windows Vista might continue to load. Whether or not it does depends on what kind of Blue Screen of Death or other problem Windows Vista is experiencing.

Since you disabled the automatic restart on system failure, Windows Vista will no longer force a restart when it encounters a Blue Screen of Death.

Now that you have the STOP Code associated with the Blue Screen of Death, you can troubleshoot the problem:

The following is the list of BSOD error codes with troubleshooting, you can find the troubleshooting steps using the error codes in the MS website also..

Hope this helped you. Please do rate me.

How do I prevent windows defender error message

Windows defender is a malaware, and traditional antivirus software is not enough to remove Defender.

Download, install and scan the computer with Spybot, that is a dedicated anti-malaware.
You can download spybot from the link below:
