There are 2 belts on the vehicle. It is EXTREMELY crirical to make sure you make a diagram of exact path of belt through the pulleys before removing it. If you dont, You will find it difficult if not impossible to figure it out after the fact. If you place it back wrong and it manged to fit severe engine damage could occur.
Standard procedure for any vehicle is to release tension on the tensioner pulley first'
This is accomplished by releasing tension on the pulley it is spring loaded and will release by placing the appropriate socket on the
pully and turning to release tension. (This can be difficult secondary to inadequate clearance. Lisle tools makes a tensioner pulley tool that I consider absolutely necessary.) then slip the belt off while maintaining force to keep tension off. release tension on tensioner again for clearance make sure belt is aligned properly on all pulleys befor you close the hood(bonnet).

ulley tool and I consider this tool essential

SOURCE: how do i replace the

You loosen brackets on tensioners (they look like rollers) and belt slips off when they're loose. NOTE: make a note of how belt is routed before you take it off. If not it's like figuring out Rubics cube

Timing chain replaced on 04 range rover and now no power

The most likely cause is that the timing belt has been installed incorrectly. To install a timing belt is a skilled job that needs special tools to line up the engine and camshafts Get it wrong and you will get low power, and possibly engine damage. Get those who did the job to check it.

What is the serpintine belt for range rover v8 4.4 pterol

If I read your post correctly.....
The serpentine belt is also more commonly known as the fan belt.
Located at the front of your engine behind the radiator. As your engine runs, the cooling fan/water pump, alternator, a/c compressor and belt tensioner pulley are all propelled by the same belt which runs a serpentine pattern thru and around them all. If you are getting a fault message or alert of any kind regarding your belt you need to address it immediately. Aside from sudden stranding there are multiple systems that can be damaged from an ineffective or malfunctioning belt. Hope this answers your question correctly, feel free to repost with additional info or inquiry. I will help however I can.

How do i change drive belt on p38 range rover

My sincere apologies for the delayed response.
I am personally going back to answer your unanswered questions.
I have only been a free contributor to this site for the past 4-months.

Not sure if this what you need for the "P38" but it is for the 1996 Range Rover.

I do not know if you still need this information, but I am going ahead and answering it anyway.

Click on the following Link. It has the several Serpentine Belt Diagrams, one of which matches your specific vehicle with your particular options (AC, Power Steering etc..).

Regarding HOW:
Standard Rule to Removal the Serpentine Belt:
1. Find the Tensioner(s). (See Diagrams on Link)
2. Rotate/Move the Tensioner away from contact with the belt and towards the area where the belt is not in contact with the Tensioner Pulley. The Tensioner is spring loaded, and is hard to rotate/move.
3. Remove the loosened belt off one of the other more easily accessed Pulleys
.
Standard Rules for Installing the Serpentine Belt:
a. Pick a Pulley that is most easily accessed. This will usually be on top. This will be the last Pulley that the belt will go on.

b. Using the Diagram: Install the new Serpentine Belt on the remainder of the Pulleys....over, under, left right.
c. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool or Wrench or Ratchet Tool: Rotate/Move the Tensioner Pulley/Arm "away" from Belt contact area on the Tensioner. This spring is pretty hard and with a new belt, it will be even harder to install. Rotate/Move this to as-close to the maximum allowed inorder to have enough slack in the belt to get it up and over the last pulley.
d. Using your other hand - Pull the Belt up and over the Last remaining Pulley.
e. Before releasing the pressure on the Tensioner, visually inspect the remainder Pulleys and the Belts' Positioning on them.
Let me know if this helped...
