Remove three phillips head screws at the back of the washer top. Slide washer top back about two inches and lift off.

My GE washer leaks water during spin cycle only, seemingly from bottom of valve(?) where water hoses hook up, hoses look to be in good shape, only a year or so old.

If it is leaking at where the drain hose comes out of the wash machine, make sure the plastic spider clamp is seated securely in the groove on the drain hose. If that's not it, then, yes, you'll need to open up your washer to gain access to the inside of it. I don't know which model GE wash machine you have, but most of the GE top loaders can be opened by following the instructions in this youtube video:

Good luck!

Maytag top load washer. the water does not shut off prior to the spin cycle and continues to overflow onto the floor. suggestions? thanks

It sounds like the pressure dome switch could be out or its in the hose for the dome it could be clogged or hose may be punctured.

To troubleshoot this you will have to access your washer.
Without model number it will be hard but im going to try. If you have an access panel at the bottom in front than take a flathead screwdriver inbetween the access panel and the front panel there are two tab metal that you have to push down to pry the access panel off. If you have a full front panel than at the bottom you need to remove two screws. Once you have the entire front panel off you need to lift up the top on each side there is a usually 3/8 nut holding the top to the sides. Lift up the top and you will see a hose going from a cylinder shape on the side of the outer tub near the bottom. follow the hose up to control counsel. Take hose off the top and check for kinks. Than blow into the hose from the top to make air bubbles in the tub. Its easier if there is some water in the tub. reconnect the hose to your pressure dome. Set top back down dont put front back on yet. try a cycle small load and see if it shuts off. Look for leaks along than hose. If you cant see any leaks and it does not stop. Spin the water out and take hose from bottom where tub is. Start another load on small wait for a few seconds than blow into the hose from bottom to activate the pressure dome. If the washer keeps filling with the pressure dome activated than its your pressure dome switch. If it stops like its suppose to replace pressure dome hose. Any further assistance please feel free to contact me.

The water leaks from the back side of the washer just under the cold water hose (at the top of the washer). Their is a round plastic part with some open space in the part. When the washer goes to rinse...

that is the drum vent. there is a mushroom valve inside to prevent water from coming out.when it fails, water comes out of vent. the valve either needs to be replaced or cleaned and reinserted. the top cover will need to be removed to do this. remove 2 back bottom screws and slide top towards rear to remove.

Water leaks out of bottom of washer

The screw in the washer tub, is not a factor in this. I'm not sure what brand of machine you have, but several machines have a fill hose that connects to the outer tub of the machine. Sometimes when a machine gets loaded heavily, during the spin cycle items in the machine can actually knock the fill hose right out of the tub. Then when the machine trys to fill the next time, all the water runs down the outside of the tub and leaks out of the bottom of the machine.
Repair is to open up the machine. You'll need to remove the top cover and that will give you access to the hose/tub connection. It may be as simple as reinserting the hose back into the drum or you may need to replace it if it got too damaged and won't stay in the hole correctly.
If you need specific how to's on opening up the machine, get back to us with the make and model info and we'll be happy to help you open that washer up!

Machine leaks when clothes are washed but not

this could be a simple issue or a severe issue.
if you feel adventurous disconnect unit, and remove Rear access panel. inspect the rear bearring at the pulley, check for oil leakage and water residue. if there is water around the bearring the unit requires an overhaul. if nothing you should be ok.
it could be a disconnected vent at the top of the machine.
remove front access panel and inspect all rubber boots and connections for water.
this is best done just after washer has leaked, inspect where water is comming from.
there are many things that could be causing this.

My admiral capacity plus washer does not stop filling with water. What would the problem be

I had this happen last year to mine. Check the hose that goes to water level adjustment switch. It may have a hole or crack in it. It may be small and hard to find but if there are any leaks in this hose the switch cannot sense the water level because it works on pressure through the hose to the diaphragm on the switch. You will need to remove the top panel of the washer to access this. I was able to replace the hose with some I had on hand. Saved me big $$$!
